The Top Quick Service Spots at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

When one thinks about eating at Disney's Hollywood Studios restaurants like the 50's Prime Time Cafe, Hollywood & Vine, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, and Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano might be the first locations that come to mind. This is one park that isn't known for having a slew of awesome quick service locations.

What's your favorite quick service spot at the Studios? What's your favorite quick service spot at the Studios?

That's not to say that you can't get a good quick service meal (or hearty snack) at the Studios, because you can. And to aide you in your quest for a good counter service meal we've created a list of what we consider some of the top quick service spots at the Studios.

7. Sunset Ranch Market:
This is the place to stop when everyone in your group is craving something different to eat. It also recently made our list as one of the top spots to take a break at the park. And, it's a good place to wait for your braver friends who are riding The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. But I digress. This open-air dining spot includes Rosie's All-American Cafe which is a great spot for vegetarians, Catalina Eddie's, Anaheim Produce, Hollywood Scoops, and Toluca Legs Turkey Co. Like we said, there's something for everyone.

6. Pizza Planet: If you're a fan of Toy Story or you're traveling with kids (or both), you should stop at Pizza Planet for lunch or dinner. We can't guarantee that it'll be the best pizza you'll have at Walt Disney World (visit Epcot's Via Napoli for that), but in this restaurant modeled after the pizza place in the Toy Story films you can't beat the atmosphere and kids of all ages will the arcade games.

5. Min and Bill's Dockside Diner: Located on the "shores" of Echo Lake this cute little spot always has something unique on the menu. Recently our friends at the Disney Food Blog reported that Min and Bill's was serving artisan mac and cheese featuring either Barbecued Pulled Pork or Buffalo Chicken. The menu also features frankfuters in pretzel rolls and Italian sausage inside a bread roll. If you're looking for a quick bite that is a bit out of the ordinary, this is your spot.

4. Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction:
Once you've enjoyed something savory at Min and Bill's we suggest making a stop for something sweet at the big green dinosaur that is Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction. This isn't a traditional quick service spot as you won't find any "meals" here unless you count soft serve ice cream as a meal (and we won't judge you if you do!). Gertie's is our favorite spot to stop for ice cream. And make sure to read the history of the big green dino too!

3. Studio Catering Co.: One of the best things about this spot is the large amount of shaded seating that you'll find. It's also a good place to grab a quick bite if you're looking for hot or cold sandwiches. And, as an added bonus, High Octane Refreshments is next door! Menu items at Studio Catering include a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, a Grilled Vegetable Sandwich, and a Pressed Turkey Club. It's not your standard quick service burgers and fries, which is why it made our list.

2. Writer's Stop: Much like Dinosaur Gertie's, this isn't a "traditional" quick service spot where you'll find menu items that make a meal. However, this is the home of the Carrot Cake Cookie, which is our favorite quick service breakfast item at the Studios, so it made the list! You'll also find other sweet treats that are perfect for snacks or a quick breakfast. Hot and cold beverages including coffees, lattes, and mochas are also on the menu.

1. Backlot Express: We think this is one of the best quick service locations at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The restaurant's motto is "A Warehouse of Good Eating" and they mean it. You feel as though you're in a prop warehouse when you visit the Backlot Express and you'll find some good eating too. The menu features "standard" quick service eats including burgers and hot dogs but you'll also find items like a grilled veggie sandwich and buffalo chicken nuggets. Be sure to check out the movie props and memorabilia after you're done eating.

What's your favorite, go-to quick service spot at Disney's Hollywood Studios? We'd love to hear from you so leave us a comment and let us know where you love to eat.

Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos!

I'm really hoping that with the DHS expansion project that's coming we get a couple of new restaurants as well. Or at least updates to the old ones. So many exciting things on track to happen at this park!

Wish they would get a few more quick service places here. I have the hardest time eating QS here. I am not a sit down for dinner type person. I swear the have better choices at the All Star resorts.
