Animal Kingdom Lodge is my usual home when my family heads down to Walt Disney World and you can frequently find me kicked back in a lounge chair with a cocktail in my hand watching the kids frolic in the pool. Where exactly does my frosty treat come from? The Uzima Springs Pool Bar.
Uzima Springs is the name given to the main courtyard and pool area at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House. Nestled in between the wings of the Zebra and Giraffe Trails. The rustic red dirt ground is adorned with impressions of pebbles, foliage, and the mischievous footprints of children. Tall grasses and rock formations hide the luxurious whirlpool spas, and the area is dotted with charming ponds and a babbling brook leading to the savannas. The large zero entry pool in the middle is truly an oasis, and a beautiful thatched roof cover the hut, which holds the pool bar.
Uzima Springs Pool Bar opens daily around noon and closes between 8-9pm. This open-air retreat offers seating at high stools and a scattering of shady tables sitting beneath umbrellas. For entertainment they have a big flat-screen TV at the back of the bar if you're hoping to catch a game while the rest of your party splashes in the water.
If you're hungry there's a house phone on the bar to pick up a house phone and order from a variety of burgers and sandwiches from private dining. Your order will be delivered to you poolside, served in a creative bento style box. In addition to the prices on the bar menu, you should know that you will incur a $3.00 delivery fee and 18% service charge. Also the Disney Dining Plan is not accepted at this location.
To wet your whistle, the bar features the standards Disney's poolside cocktails, such as the poolside lemonade and orange freeze. Also highlighted at the watering hole is a "Special of the Day" not on the regular drink menu. Keeping with the resorts immersive theme the bar features three specialty African beers, two bottled and one on tap. Those looking for something non-alcoholic, will be please to find bottled water, soda and energy drinks available too.
My gratitude to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Fan Site for exclusive use of their images. Next time your looking for a lush oasis in the middle of the day, check out the Uzima Springs pool bar. Do you have a favorite pool bar at Walt Disney World? Leave me a comment and let me know!
