"From 1984 to 1994, a perfect storm of people and circumstances changed the face of animation forever." That's the premise of Waking Sleeping Beauty.
Waking Sleeping beauty walks the viewer through the changing times at the Walt Disney Animation Studios in the 1980s, culminating in what many call the "Disney Renaissance" -- the string of hits that peaked with The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.
There are enough famous Disney names in this documentary to make your head spin, with Don Hahn directing and Peter Schneider producing. More names that you'll see in the film: Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Roy Disney, Don Bluth, John Lasseter, Tim Burton, Glen Keane, John Musker, Ron Clements and more.
If you grew up during the 1980s and 1990s, or had children during that time, then this film will resonate with you. All of the footage is from that period, with current voiceover.
See more at the film's official website, and watch the trailer below.

I was really looking forward to this movie.....and then I saw it
I was kinda bummed.
While I'm extremely interested in this time period of Disney's history. And it's well chronicled in the book "Disneywar" by James Stewart.
This movie was....well......kinda boring for me.
