Hey Disney Grown-ups, Erik here, your friendly neighborhood Marvel/Star Wars fan stepping back into the limelight as the summer movie season comes to a close and and we begin looking ahead to the future. While there is a lot of news coming out of the Star Wars camp, today's post begins our official Avengers Watch!
Two major tidbits have been released about our up and coming Marvel menagerie, first is a synopsis of the plot and second is an official release date for the trailer to hit the big screen. Let's discuss the plot. Speculation has run rampant ever since Age of Ultron was released as the second Avengers movie; the film will be introducing Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision (played by Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Paul Bettany respectively), as well as a new major villain - Ultron (played by James Spader), they will be joined by our usual favorite Avenger heroes. That casting being said, the plot has been held tight in the vault of secrets until just recently.
Chris Plante over at "the Verge" reports the Age of Ultron's plot will start with Tony Stark, who is trying to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program. However as usual things don't go quite as planned and "Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance" as Ultron comes to light. Ultron is a "terrifying technological villain hell bent on human extinction" our heroes take up the difficult cause of his defeat and soon an epic worldwide adventure begins with new allies and old friends.
But that isn't the only Avengers news out recently as the release date for the first trailer is due in only a couple months! The release of Christopher Nolans new space/sci-fi epic, Interstellar, will host the release of the first official trailer of Avengers: Age of Ultron. While I am not one to bring up bad blood between studios, Interstellar is not a Disney/Marvel movie property. November 7th is the official release date, and you can bet that I will be there just to see what this trailer has to offer and report back to all of you.
That's all for Avengers Watch 2014 for this week. How excited are you all for this new movie? Have you grown to enjoy the new franchises? I would love to hear your thoughts.
