So Disney is apparently re-releasing Beauty and the Beast in 3D and pondering Pirates 4 in 3D, so let me ask. Do you guys actually enjoy 3D movies? I still kind of think of them as a campy gimmick.

Oh, definitely. I love the Disney Digital 3D. It feels very natural after a few minutes, and you almost forget that you're viewing a 3D movie. So it certainly does not feel gimmicky. I thought "Meet The Robinsons" certainly was enhanced very much in 3D. And I will be seeing "Bolt" again, in 3D, after getting the chance to only see it in 2D during a sneak preview last weekend.
I hope you also heard that Disney has signed on to produce 5 movies in the iMax format (possibly in 3D).

I haven't had enough experience with 3D to really respond to whether it would improve the quality of my experience, though I do know there are several scenes in Beauty and the Beast that would be amazing in "traditional" 3D.
My preference is IMAX. I always find that seeing films in IMAX is a real fun-booster!

Yeah they had some scenes in Beauty and the Beast just tailored for that. The big sweeping shots. There's probably something similar in a lot of the classics. Plus they're great movies!
I don't want to show my age/lack of moviegoing, but uhm....do you still have to wear glasses for 3d movies?
You do, but no longer do you wear those red/green glasses. The newer ones look almost like ordinary sun glasses and they are much, much more comfortable and do not strain the eyes. This is because of the newer technology in getting the 3D effect.

Does the same thing apply to IMAX? Again showing my age here.
I actually do enjoy seeing movies in 3-D. We saw Bolt in 3-D last weekend and it was a lot of fun! The regular Disney movies don't have all the effects like Honey I Shrunk the Audience where things fly at you, but seeing them in 3-D does add some dimension & depth to the movie.
After seeing Bolt we decided we will definately go see Toy Story when they release it to the theatres in 3-D.
I think Pirates 4 might be great in 3D, actually. When might that happen?

DL, when's that coming out?
Wow. Really looking forward to seeing Toy Story in 3D. I really, really enjoy those films. Thanks for the info, Joy.
