ABC Disney Christmas Parade Taping 2013

ABC Disney Christmas Parade Taping 2013

Is December 5-8th, which means it will be going on for 2 of the days that my family and I will be there. Has anyone ever been there during this time? What are your tips?

We get there on the 7th and are planning on going to AK during the day and then stopping at MK at night... So Main St should be clear for my in laws to get a glimpse of that beautiful castle for the first time... But Dec 8th we were planning an entire day at MK and I don't really know what to expect.

What do you all know about the taping?

What is your advice? Should we hang out and try to get on tv? Is that even possible? Is it over crowded on these days due to special guests?

My advice from experience is to stay clear of MK at all times during the taping! A huge wave of crowd anxiety crashes over me when I think of one time...we went in,realized what was going on, rode the train and left, vowing to NEVER return during the parade taping! It is absolutely insanely crowded. We've been at least twice, once foolishly thinking we might be able to see or be a part of something cool...NOT! Not only are the crowds immense, it's all blocked off and staged and has crazy traffic patterns. You can't get even remotely close, I think there's some sort of special ticket/pass you can get to be a part of the parade, but they're hard to get and may only be for pass holders, not sure. Because of the blocking off of Main St. and all the staging and crowd control, it was just not enjoyable at all for us. It's been a few years but I doubt things have changed much. That's our experience, maybe someone else has a different view?

We were there in 2010 during the taping, and our strategy was to just stay away from MK on the that Saturday of the actual taping. We hit it up on Sunday instead. I don't know how many folks stay at the park after the taping ends, but I'd guess it stays pretty busy.

I've heard that the taping itself on Saturday is a long process....they start and stop a lot to reshoot. And Main Srtreet is an absolutely zoo during that time.

On Friday the 6th they have MVMCP- 4pm-midnight
Would they be taping that Xmas parade ? or is it the day parade they tape?
Trying to decide between Tuesday and Friday for MVMCP

The ABC Christmas parade taping happened very early in the morning last year. My friends and I arrived at park opening and most of Main Street was crowded and we ended up at the very top of Main Street. Only way to get on tv is to be noticeable and be in the front. It only lasts a few hours. We were done by like 3 pm. They taped half of the parade and Colbie Calliat's performance along with Yolanda Adams. They took like five takes of different parts as well. So if you want to get any chance to be on tv, get there really early to the park.

It's the daytime parade that gets taped.
