Yep, It's Disneyland trip No# 1 In October. The earliest We would do the Adventure by Disney is next year, However I was also considering the 4 Land/3 Sea Disney cruse. My Wife has never been on a cruse.

I've never been on a cruise either. You should talk to DH for me.

Maybe we ought to start a thread on here. "How to talk the spouse into a cruise" thread!

We could list all the little things you can say that 'sell' a cruise to an unwilling partner. I've gotta give this some thought! wink

Put the list together, please, MT. I'm still pushing for the boocruise.

That's actually a great idea!

So, Marzyar, which way are you leaning re: Adventures by Disney?

We haven't done an AbD trip, but looked at the one to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We have done those parks on our own and felt that we saw more for less money. However, I do agree with PPs that it seems like it would be worth it in situations where you do not speak the language or might have other cultural-type difficulties. We were drooling over the Provence, France trip and one of the Italy trips (cooking classes and wine tasting....mmmmm......) It would be nice to know that we were in Disney's hands as far as quality of service and experience are concerned....

The Disneyland Hollywood tour. Cheap starter, close to home, and we would get to see a lot of backstage stuff (Love the Backstage stuff)

i think that's very true. if you're going to yellowstone there's many less minutiae to deal with (i think) much more useful to get them to help you with something complex, or where you get in depth access like marzyar was talking about.

Yes--especially when you consider what a pain money, transportation, and the language barrier can be when you're visiting other countries. Especially if you're relying on public transportation sarcastic

You live near Indianapolis right? Although I guess Anaheim is much closer than France or the Himalayas or wherever.

i was about to ask why and then i figured it out. is it like in green bay where when the football game happens the size of the town doubles? also i take it you're not a racing fan who has to stay to see it?

Ill be back to watch the race. The thing is the WHOLE month can be a mad house at times. From lane restrictions and traffic, every activity in town packed. Every store switching over to an all race product line, Street vinders. Cops in Tricked out mustangs and Cameros. (Don't speed in May!!!) And Don't try to drive anywhere race weekend, every morning all roads lead to the track and every afternoon all roads lead away. NO EXCEPTIONS. After a month it just gets old.

Wow I had no idea people were going to the track for a month, what are they doing?

The First weekend of the month is opening day at the track, when race teams start showing up. Also that day is the mini-Marathon. It starts downtown and runs around the track and then back (30 - 40 Thousand runners) the city is pretty much closed during this time, all streets blocked.

Then the first week of Practice.

Second Saturday is Pole Day, Huge turn out. Sunday continues qualifications. Both days traffic can be crippling if roads don't get closed.

Then the second week of Practice.

Third Saturday is continued qualifying followed by Bump day to complete the field. Sunday (Bump Day) is almost as buisy as Pole day as people see who the final field will be. A lot of Out of towners that arn't already here show up on this day too.

Final week of practice.

Friday is Carb Day. This is the Big party day. Concerts and you name it go's on, it's also when they lock up all the cars before the race. (All inspections are finalised on carb day and the cars are locked so NOONE can get to them) Everything is chaos, leave town.

Saturday is the Parade, folowed by parties. Roads closed Ect...(Am I sounding repetitive yet?)

Then the race. If you not going don't go NEAR the track. All lanes go one way toward the track. If you live near there you can leave via police escort or by taking special bus's. After the race all lanes go out.

The next few days as cleanup starts and people leave dumpsterg garbage trucks and suck can clog some roads.

This is only the month at the track. You could write a book about all the other events, sales, and activites that hapen at this time. the 500 really is a month long event.

Wow. That sounds like Super Bowl weekend, except maybe bigger?

When Indianapolis landed the Super Bowl (2011 I think) I heard a lot of people wondering if we could handle 100,000 people for the weekend. Everyone I know just kind of chuckled. We host 4-5 times that amount for weeks in may. And then 2 more times for the other 2 Races.

I honestly would have wondered too. I had no idea the Indy race was that big. It probably helps that your a smaller town that is used to changing things up to suit a big event. Other than the weather it will probably be a great Superbowl town.

Yea it dose get crappy cold here. However they don't need to go outside. The Stadium is connected to the convention center and most of the Downtown hotels via tunnels. So weather isn't really a concern.

Wow--that's really cool. I had no idea. More northern cities need to consider that method.

Hrm, can the tunnels handle the capacity of a Superbowl? We have tunnels here but they'd be nowhere near sufficient.

The New stadium tunnel and Convention center expansion are still under construction (it's where the last stadium was) so I haven't seen it yet, but the rest are about 15 foot wide so unless the all stay at the same hotel I think it should be ok.

I'm not near as big as one as my DW is, but I do enjoy home games. I am more of the betting sports fan and usually have money on the game in one form or another. (Mostly office pools)

So is she a Colts fan? I assume you have to root for whoever she does.

Colts and Bears (From before the colts were here) Gotta go for the home town team.

Funny thing is we have a lot die hard Green Bay fans here too.

I had to go check out a map because my geography isn't so good...

It looks like you could have legitimately been Browns fans, except I guess it's kind of obvious why you wouldn't be.
