Air Travel Moving Forward From COVID-19

Is anyone else a little iffy about hoping on an air plane once Disney reopens and we can all return to our happy place? While I certainly don't mind driving down, it's rarely the most convenient way for me to get to WDW. For some reason in my head the risk of flying is actually greater than the risk being at Disney. Logically I know that they both have risk, but for some reason I'm fixating on the plane trip. Have any of you pondered this at all? Am I alone in the caution of not wanting to get on a plane until after there is a vaccine?

I don't like driving long distances by myself so I opt for air travel. I would use extra precautions like bringing Clorox or Lysol wipes to wipe down the immediate area, having a mask with me to wear if I feel it is warranted, etc.

I have always been a bit of a germaphobe. Planes have always concerned me, but we do not fly. Cruises to me are like being in a classroom full of toddlers, germs everywhere. I always avoid as much as possible touching hand rails while in Disney. Obviously I do have to touch things on rides. Even at home I do not touch doors and such in public. Since the start of this virus, I have scrubbed my hands till my knuckles have cracked. I have to remind myself at home that I am only washing my hands not scrubbing for surgery! I am starting to wonder if my obsession with washing my hands will ever go away.

I will add, as obsessed as I am with not touching and washing my hands, I have not worn a mask and really prefer not to. We are required to wear them in our state when in public starting at 8:00 tonight. I have not been out of the house except to work since March 13. So far I have not worn one at work. We are not allowing customers inside the office so I do not feel like I need one.

Some airlines are not assigning the middle seats.

I've never really been concerned about extra germs when traveling (or even just being in crowds) but I can see myself becoming someone who is. The amount of hand sanitizer I've gone through in addition to hand washing is insane. I keep wondering what I will have to add to my suitcase to make me feel safe to roam again.

I think clorox wipes in my carry-on bag will totally be a thing, and masks are going to be a functional fashion statement for awhile going forward.

I think I read somewhere that airplanes are one of the cleanest places to be. Something about the air on the plane being super recycled and super filtered.

Here's an interesting article on new sterilization chemicals that some airlines are using.

We will still fly when it is safe for us to do so. I definitely will be more cautious about wiping things down and applying hand sanitizer liberally. We still have a flight scheduled for June 6th (our rescheduled trip from April 27th) and when we booked it a few weeks ago, they didn't let us purchase 3 seats together. The middle seat on the entire plane was not allowed to be booked.

I'm sorry Ken, we've had a LOT of published spam the past couple of weeks and it's showing up on the back end in the same place as the forum posts. I might have gotten over zealous, my apologies if that was the case. sad
