All Star Sports food court refurbishment

Has anyone been to AllStar Sports during this food court refurbishment? I would think that rooms at this resort ought to be discounted during the refurbishment. Seems like it would be extremely difficult to deal with having to take a bus to another resort for breakfast.

We just got a letter in the mail yesterday and called to see if we could move. With two kids and the grandparents going with us in Sept., we really wanted easy access to the food. I called them yesterday and they will have grab and go at what is normally the arcade during the renovations but that is all. We moved our reservations to All Star Movies.

Are they not offering a discount or some kind of perk?

Not at all, and I thought they might. I was nervous that we wouldn't be able to move too with the free dining going on then but they still had standard and preferred rooms at Music and preferred at Movies. I like Movies because it feels more Disney to me. I do have a feeling more and more people will want to switch to have all the amenities.

Their response in the letter and on the phone was that they need to do renovations to make all stays magical for everyone. I just wish we had known when we booked, and we would have chosen another resort but it all worked out in the end.

Yeah I can understand about needing to do a refurbishment, but just because they need to do a refurbishment doesn't mean that peoples vacation should suffer a major inconvenience and that without warning, man I would be really ticked off if I got down there and didn't know ahead of time.

I am a big Disney fan but this is a blunder.

Be happy that you didn't choose Music!

We really really liked the 3 nights we spent at Movies. We really liked the 1 night that we stayed at Sports. We were unhappy with the 8 nights we spent at Music.

The food court service was AWFUL at the food court at Music. We would walk through out of Music from buildings 3&4 and across the parking lot to Movies to eat at their Food Court. The service was that bad. They were yelling at my Father in Law because he didn't have a firm grasp on how the dining plan worked with the dessert and drink and all.

They have to do refurbishments or we'd be complaining that things aren't updated so there is going to have to be times where things are shut down. I don't see this being a blunder at all.It sounds like they are notifying people that already had a reservation since kywildcatchick received a letter from Disney letting her know. It also sounds like they are being very accommodating with letting people switch their reservation. I honestly don't know what more they could do to try and lessen the inconvience for their guests. With all the other steps they're taking (providing a shuttle to other resorts, offering to let guests switch hotels and upgrading their rooms, etc.) they really only need to offer a discount or perk if their worried about filling the rooms.

I guess it depends on how often I was planning to eat in the food court. We eat most of our breakfast in food court and some dinners. An extra couple of bus rides every day for meals would be a major downside for me.

But you're able to switch your room to All Star Movies or All Star Music if you don't want to deal with the shuttle.

I would agree with the complaint if Disney had basically been like "Welp, you're stuck with what you reserved. We have to do renovations and you have to deal. Sorry." But so far it sounds like they've been really good about providing different options to guests to deal with the inconvenience.

I just found a great rate for this resort on expedia for March. But I am wondering if it will be better by march? Does anyone know if refurbishment will be done or worst?

YES!!! The refurbishment has been completed and the new food court is now open.

Here is the link to the story on DFB http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2013/12/26/first-look-all-star-sports-end-zone-food-court-reopens-after-renovation/

The decor is amazing. I love the incorporation of Mickey and friends with sports. AllEars.net updated their breakfast menus but not lunch and dinner on their site. Seems like one of the food trends is customization of meals. You don't get that very often at Disney restaurants.

My boyfriend, his parents and I stayed at All-Star Sports during the refurbishment, it wasn't that bad. When I made the reservation, I was informed that the food court would be closed, since they had already started the refurb. They had pretty choices at the Grab and go. They bagels, bread, brownies, sandwiches, various pastries, fruit, juice, bottled beverages, milk, cereal, coffee, hot coco, they had a way to fill refillable mugs, chips and other various stuff. From our room, we could of easily walked to the next resort since we could see it from our room.

Thanks everyone. Still not able to get tickets yet. But I keep checking on deals. We will not know until next month if we are able to go or not. Some things have come up that we need to take care. Keeping fingers crossed. crossfingers
