Any vegan options at 'Ohana?

Background: we're going to Orlando for a week with sister and family, spending most of our time at Universal with some Disney waterparks and Downtown Disney thrown into the mix. Just found out sis would've preferred a trip to Hawaii but deferred to her hubby's desire to do Universal (it's a combined celebration of their anniversary and daughter's 21st birthday).

So I'm thinking, 'Ohana! It would give sis a little Hawaii in her Orlando vacation.

One problem - the daughter is full-on vegan. I've looked at the menu, and while there are things she can eat, there's nothing in the way of a main dish, just salads, veggies, and noodles.

I know that Disney restaurants will frequently make something special in a case like this. Does anyone have any experience of this kind at 'Ohana?

I have not eaten at Ohana, but I can recommend Boma restaurant (Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort), they serve delicious exotic dishes from Africa and the middle east. They also have an extensive selection of vegan type dishes.

Bon Appetit.

Thanks, Emilio. As it happens we already have reservations at Boma. It's one of our favorites, also.

CCP I found this post on Allears

And being right next to Kona, I'm sure they can do some excellent options for Vegan options.

Reading in some further posts, that chef is gone from Ohana's so I'm not sure how they are at Vegan now. Found this from Jan 2012:

They should be able to do something with Tofu for her. You'll have to call ahead, and then talk with your server when you get there. I've gotten special desserts there before, but it seems to confuse the servers a bit at first. I think they're so focused on the same things for every table. Just be vocal and it should be just fine!

Thanks, everyone, the info was very helpful. I've passed it along to the vegan niece and we'll see whether she thinks it's doable.

Just found out the vegan daughter doesn't care for "gingery/Asian food." So unless her mother is dead set on a little Hawaiian, it looks like 'Ohana is out.

Good news, sister decided she really wanted to go to Ohana, so it's on!

I'm a vegetarian and have eaten at 'Ohana twice. I did not have to call ahead or do anything special other than tell my server when I got there. I was given a tofu/veggie plate and then I ate whatever was veggie that they bring you anyway. On my 2nd trip I was also given a hummus and chip plate when my husband was given the potstickers. (First trip I just got to watch my husband eat during that course, they didn't bring me anything.) Food is fantastic at 'Ohana, even for us vegetarian/vegans.
