Anyone been to Legoland?

Since Florida teachers get a free annual pass to Legoland, Mike and I decided to check it out last week. We heard it was really for younger kids, but thought we'd go see what it was like.
We were pleasantly surprised! Although I'd definitely agree with the 10 and under recommendation, there is something for everyone. The park is very nice, clean and was not crowded at all when we were there. We only did a few of the rides and they were pretty lame, but kids would love them. We also get into the waterpark but it started to rain so we did not get to check that out, I think they've added to it this year.
Thank goodness that Legoland did keep the beautiful botanical gardens from Cypress gardens and the ski show. When the kids were young we spent lots and lots of time at Cypress Gardens as we lived 10 minutes away at the time. The ski show is really cheesy, but brought back good memories. Who doesn't like to watch great water skiiers, even if the are dressed like giant Lego pirates?!
The gardens...oh my! Absolutely fabulous, what a great way to take a rest and cool off in the shady tranquility of the huge very old banyon tree? I could take a book and spend hours in the beauty and shade of the gardens. Who knows, maybe I will next time!
So, has anyone left the world to check out Legoland?

Wow, it actually looks a lot cooler than I thought! Thanks for the pics and reviews.

We used to take family vacations to Cypress Gardens, as we were big inform water skiing back then. I remember the ski shows and always thought they were so neat. I'm struggling with the Lego pirate skier though!! laugh

I just found it last week. I just bought a house about 10 minutes from there, and passed it while looking for a branch for my bank. Trying to get my daughter, and maybe my wife to apply there. Heck, when it's time for me to finally move down, I might apply there myself. The pics look great. Thanks for sharing.

Did you buy a house in Winter Haven? We used to live in Lake Wales and still have lots of friends there and visit often. My youngest was born in Winter Haven Hospital (13 yrs ago). We are about an hour from there. Check out the annual passes when you get here, as I recall they were reasonable for Florida residents. Could be a cool place to work too, the staff were almost Disney friendly which tells me they are well trained. Even the parking gal was super cheery.
Good luck with your move!

Thanks, yes, my family is in Winter Haven right now, over towards Auburndale (?). We moved down the week of June 10th. I went back to Jersey, until I sell the place up here, then I'll start job hunting down that way.

I have some cousins in New Port Richie, but I think that may be it as far as family (it's hard to say, my grandmother had a bunch of siblings, hence, a bunch of distant cousins, and some did live in Florida).

A super cheery parking lot girl? I don't often see that even IN Disney...lol.

Thanks for the moving wishes.

Mike

I really want to take my 2 & 4 years olds there! I am so afraid that I will be mad at myself for giving up a Disney day to go there instead.

We took one day last year when we went to WDW and went over to LegoLand. We thought it was fun! My boys are really into Legos! We also had coupons for the kids to get in free. Like you said it wasn't too crowded and we were there the day before Thanksgiving. mickey
