Anyone doing anything special for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day always seems to take me by surprise. Will any of you be celebrating V Day in a special way, or is it just another day to you? I admit, we don't do much with it these days. But going out to dinner without the kids sure would be nice Smile As for the kids, I love helping them make special valentines.

Mrs T will expect a card, but our first grand-daughter is due to arrive that week so I don't want to take a chance booking a table for dinner just to have to cancel it if we get called to the hospital.

Nothing very exciting going on here for Valentines Day. Hubby has told me that I'll get something on our cruise in March.

I don't think I am going to get my wife anything this year because she did not use what I gave her last year. That was an electric chair, a cemetery plot and a tombstone. silly Just Kidding, Just Kidding seriously my wife is a GREATlady and a fantastic wife, just ask mrhub and Scrappy or Subvet, they have met her. I will be getting her something nice, but I just don't know what yet.

We may go to dinner, which is a pretty big deal for us this year since we're trying to lose some weight!

Well Hubby has said he is going to make us a special meal which will be lovely, last night i bought him his present (we do presents, only been married 2 years though so I'm sure it will die off eventually lol) and have booked us into a spa for 2 nights, got a super cheap deal on a website like groupon, 2 nights B&B and full use fo the spa for PS99. I did buy it about 2am when i couldnt sleep... thought i would regret it this morning but hey ho!

Oh, VL, if Mrs. VL gets on this board, you are SUPER in trouble! laugh

I like the idea of hand made goodies - chocolates, cards. I don't know if I'll actually have time to do it, though!

Robyn - by the way, I love your new avatar! That's a sweet pic of you and your wedding cake-How cute! Who made it? I have a secret love of wedding cakes Smile

I thought Valentine's Day was that holiday that came around only every 4 years, and this year wasn't one of them! biggrin

Thank you Lizzy! erm, I made it Smile I saw one like it and it was HUNDREDS of GBP, no way we could afford it, so i bought all the bits I needed and made it myself biggrin First ever iced cake that I made too (I'm a little bit proud of myself)

One year, in the run up to our wedding in fact and hubby had been made redundant in his job, I had warned him NOT to buy me anything especially no flowers as they are so overpriced that time of the year... and on Valentines morning I was woken up by what *looked* like a bunch of roses and i was cross, until i got a closer look... hubby had hand made me 12 roses from origami, each with a love note in the middle of the flower. One of the best presents I have ever had Smile

This is a better pic of the cake (I hope, if it comes out that is)

The hubs and I are going out for sushi and then to see The Woman in Black. Nothing like a good scare for Valentine's Day!

Jess and I are doing the usual for V-Day...

BLUE JACKETS HOCKEY! Dinner before hand... wherever she prefers. I don't care, but probably Buca. This has been a tradition now and this will be year 4 I believe?

That's quite a cake Robyn. I'm really impressed!

Mase...it is widely agreed upon that hockey is the most romantic sport, right?

LOL

Honestly... don't know. We got invited 4 years ago to go with friends on the 13th (But we celebrated V-Day that day), and ever since we got our tickets, we made sure we always go around the 14th and thats how we celebrate V-Day.... this day its ACTUALLY on the 14th, so it makes it more fun. But I will say this... if I was single... looking to take my date somewhere for valentines day? My last thought would be hockey... lol

hubby and I are going to a hotel this weekend. We found a deal on groupon and didn't realize we booked valentines weekend until after the fact. We also made dinner reservations this weekend at Rick Bayless' restaurant Frontera Grill. I'm extremely excited about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
