Are they doing anything special at the parks for the 40th anniversary?

I found that yesterday after I saw this post--but do they still get the free mug with the QS plan? Color me confused about that one.
UGH! Not to sound like a big complainer but does it make any sense in this economy for Disney to be raising prices? It"s a struggle as it is for families to save up to go. Disney isn't hurting money-wise. They make money hand over fist. Just don't get it....You'd think they would lower prices or do more deals like 3 Days for $99 like they did a few years back. You'd draw even more people to the parks if prices were lower not higher.
Sorry to vent....

I know what you mean, but I dont think Disney has a wad of cash and just sitting on it though. I know they are struggling as well because im a share holder. Our stock is kinda low. I remember about 10-15 years ago my stock split twice in what was a 5 year period, and hasnt done anything for maybe 10 years. So yeah... they may have money, but I dont know if they have extra to do that. Dont know... just from a share holders perspective I guess.

You are probably right, Mase. Seems backwards though to raise prices. We will still go. Our BIG family vacation is Disney, will never stop loving it or going. It just puts more of a strain on families when prices get so high.
Oh... I agree. I just wish our economy would bounce back. So we can have fun again! lol

Yeah products go up for Disney just like everyone else. Everyone is struggling in some way or another and Disney is no exception. They just dont like to show it, and when they do raise prices on there tickets and such, people like to vent about it. No worries though Poppet, we all have to vent sometimes.
To be fair, I think the economy is starting to bounce back a bit. Since I work for a state university, the State of Maryland technically is my employer, and for the past 3 years, we've been furloughed several days. This fiscal year will be the first one with no furloughs. Still no merit or COL raises, but I take it as a good sign that they don't have to decrease our salaries again to help balance the budget.

That's good to hear...I hope so! I am a teacher and the last two years we haven't had pay increases and I am ready for one!
Has anyone heard any more about possible activities going on for the 40th?
I've got that Saturday clear and we're heading to the Magic Kingdom for it, since I assume anything happening would take place there. I haven't heard about any official events though, just lots of fan meets.
