Are we crazy?

Ok so me and hubby have been talking about taking the kids and going down to Disney for a couple days this spring. The thing is we would be driving and can probably only get away for 5 days so that would leave two days for driving and three days in park. The drive is a 15+ hour drive and we would do it in one day down and one day back. We already have our tickets cause we have annual passes, we would stay at my cousins who lives in Orlando so we wouldn't have to pay for hotel, and I told hubby we weren't going to eat anything real fancy for food and not buy any souvenirs. So what do you guys think... Is it worth it... And put your crazy love for Disney aside and look at it logically. Thanks

Do it! Especially if it means getting to see family who you may not get to visit very often. Would they be coming with you to Disney? Either way, sounds like fun!

I honestly would go for it: I don't mind long car rides, especially if there's highway involved and you can switch drivers and have plenty of coffee, you get to stay with family, and you already have your tickets! It sounds like a great chance for you and your hubby to go to the place you love, if only for a few days!

Laughing my butt off its probably a bad place to ask. It's a two day drive for us too, but I would do it in a heartbeat. Especially with the cost be g so low .

you could look at it this way, by using your APs 3 extra days, you are lowingering your cost per day, laugh

The things I worry about is that it's going to rain cause I know it rains down there alot in the spring and the second thing is about how crowded its going to be. February doesn't look to bad and neither does April but march looks horrible crowd wise.

They could come with us if they wanted... My cousin actually used to work at Disney and her aunt is a big executive at Disney so she can get her free passes

The Spring Break crowds might indeed be a concern. You may have already researched, but here are a few articles I found on Spring Break 2013 and impacts on WDW crowd levels. Can't attest to their reliability, but I know we usually go towards the end of April when we do Spring trips because of concerns about Spring Break crowds in March and April.

Im gonna give a little back story on this because I think it needs it... and btw... im back (Was dead sick literally after I got back from the last trip, and been busy with other stuff)

So my son and I play Pokemon. Yeah... yeah.... but its fun and we enjoy it together. Well... him and I have gotten pretty good at it, and regionals are actually in Orlando! So joking around with Jess... I text her... "Well... what ya think?" So actually started to consider it! Well... once she was actually on board... she realized it was this upcoming weekend, when she thought it was at the end of February. So.... the idea went under the rug.

Well... yesterday I thought... wait? She was considering this? Why does it have to be for Pokemon, but we can actually do this for a short trip? So I brought it up again, and here we are.

I got the route we would take which is down 95 basically. Its a matter of if Jess's cousin would say its ok. Thats the biggie. If she says no... I havent told Jess this... but id check to see how many points it would cost and see if I can get the ok to use them for 4 nights or so. Im trying to push to take Evan out of school again... but im loosing the battle. If we do... we can be more selective on when we go. He has missed I think 2 days being sick... and then 5 from last trip. He hasnt missed any since. So I'm pulling for taking him out again.

So thats pretty much all of it. Id like to do this... and we probably will. Just rests on the cousin.

Right now... im looking after Brookes birthday which is the 15th of April till the end of April... and the last week of Feb or early March if I had my choice. But Jess wants to do it to where its the least amount of missed days for Evan... but for both times he's out... Disney is pretty packed.

The other thing we've run into with our late-April /early May trips are the end-of-school-year class trips. But I didn't think that was overwhelming. Probably because Disney is so big it can absorb alot of that. It was horrible at Universal though - busload after busload of school kids who took over the parks. yuck

But that's such a fantastic time weather-wise, at least in our experience. clapping clapping

That sounds like a fun road trip to me. This is the beauty of an AP - a "free" trip whenever you can do it. And 3 days in the parks is a lot! Go for it!!!!! mickey

That'd be awesome! Go for it! It sounds pretty reasonably priced! I am so jealous she works there....I've been applying to Disney like crazy! Crossing my fingers!

Whatever time of year you go, I'm sure will be great!

Dont know... its kinda up in the air... but I think Jess is on board for taking Evan out... especially if its only a couple days. Basically according to Touring Plans... the 15th through the 30th is pretty solid with 1's to 4's through then. So if I had my choice... would be either the 17th -21st, or the 24th - 29th. Would be pretty cool for Brooke and I to celebrate our birthdays in Disney.....?

I'd say go. If you don't mind the drive - can take the kids out of school without too much trouble - have AP's and housing - why not? Depending on the crowds - maybe you guys can do the things that you haven't done in awhile that are less popular/less crowded?

Welp... guess you guys are going to be getting an extra trip report from us because we got the OK to stay at Jess's cousins! Looks like Jess likes the idea of April, so we will get back with ya when we have something nailed down.
