Whenever I hear of anyone with a scary diagnosis, I recommend a Disney trip or something like it. For me, part of what kept me pretty upbeat was the absolute knowledge that there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. We were going to Disney World, and we had the reservations to prove it. I desperately needed that secure knowledge that there WOULD be an after, that the black cloud WOULD go away and things like ADRs and rope drop would matter. That knowledge really did help me more than I can say.

I hope both of you are doing well. The best medicine in the world is a visit to the World. God bless you both.

Well, I thought I was a Disney expert as I first went to the world in 1980 aged 8. I have lost count of how many times I have been since then but at least 13 vacations, plus a year as a cast member 91/92. I have stayed at the Poly, POR, POFQ, The Golf /Disney Inn (anyone remember this one? Now shades of green), CSR, Grand Floridian, Dolphin, Waldorf Astoria, Doubletrees and a Kissimmee villa. So I thought I knew quite a bit about Disney but have found out lots and lots of things I didn't know previously from this site. So Still research to be done!!! Love every minute of it!!!! eg. In all my trips I have never made an ADR!!! We have done walk-ins every time. Looking forward to making a few ADRs for our forthcoming trip - a new experience.

I firmly believe that no one will ever know every thing there is about Disney and that is also the beauty too. That is why you must return again and again and again to be an expert when you feel you are still a novice.

Yes I am the one my friends come to, and like you Kristen, I try to stress that my way is not the only way.

I have a couple of friends planning their first trip for next year and they were over the other night and so we were going through ADR's, I helped make a list of places that I thought they would enjoy, but again stressed that this was only my opinion and they should look at all the menus and reviews online and decide for themselves. Have also been helping them decide where they would like to stay. I'm sure ill be helping them lots more over the coming year Smile I do love helping but don't want them to do stuff just cause I said so as its a lot of pressure if they don't like any if the things I suggest. We are very similar personality, other than they get up early hahaha, so I think I've suggested things they would enjoy, time will tell!

I too a bit of an "expert" with friends, but I am finding that I keep changing my own mind about things that I had "ruled out" before. I am therefore going back to try things I had rejected before, because it seems that fatigue, state of mind, or hunger can really color my opinion of something at any given moment. laugh

Whenever someone in my office is planning a WDW vacation, they come to me for information on things like where to stay, how to get the best prices, when are the crowd levels low, and what are cool hidden things to look for at WDW. I love playing travel agent for them!

Everyone at work knows of my Disney obsession so they are either A. Making fun of me for it or B. asking for advice. Just gave a co worker advice today actually

I have been managing a conversion for one our client applications to a new processing platform. The client was at our facility for a meeting in June. While having lunch we were talking about summer plans. One of the ladies said she didn't have vacation plans this summer but was going to Walt Disney World in October. I told her if she had any questions give me a call.

Yesterday, we were on our weekly project meeting call, she asked me at the end of the call if she could ask me a non-project related question. I told her she could. Her question was "have you ever been to Mickey's Halloween party?" mickey

I am the go to person for Disney among my friends and family. I'm learning things and I still have to experience a lot but I have enough knowledge to share with others.

I'm helping two of my friends plan a trip with their DS & DD in October. They were upset because their son wanted to eat at BOG and they couldn't get a reservation this late in the game, but I let them know that they could still eat there if they went for lunch. They had no idea it was a quick service restaurant for lunch and are excited to tell their son they can still go! I also made sure they knew about the Grey Goose Slushy in France and that the kids (who aren't big Epcot fans) could be entertained by doing Agent P's Adventure while they tour the countries for F&W Fest. I love being able to help folks with things they didn't know about WDW!

Be sure to mention that they could always try to just walk in. My friends have been able to just walk in to BOG for dinner a couple of times.
