Best time to go to Disney?

I've been to Disney during every season---Jan, April, May, August, Oct., Dec.

My favorite time is early December. But early May and October are really good too. Those times are not as busy as April (Spring break time) or summer (Family vacation time). Of course August is broiling. If you must go during the hot or busy times. just take your time , don't plan to do TOO much on a given day, and be sure to get a Dole Whip ( in the Magic Kingdom --Adventure Land) YUM!

Are there differences in prices for the tickets or are they standard year round? How about for the hotels? When is "peak season"...or is it always?

Tickets are standard year round. Check this page for a great calculator that will help you find the right ticket type for you. http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/PlanningTools/ToolsTicketOptions/

Hotels are a different story! They have different costs based on resort "season" (i.e., the time of year you stay there) and resort category (i.e. what level hotel you're in--value, moderate, deluxe, or home-away-from-home). Check out this link for a good idea of 2008 seasons and room costs; it also tells you what WDW considers "peak season": http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/General/Accommodations/OnSiteAccommodations/

Smile I love me some dole whips!

My favorite time to go is Christmastime. We really enjoy the Candlelight Processional and all of the decorations... it's really amazing.

I've never had the nerve to actually go near Christmas. In between Thanksgiving and Christmas is great, but the crowds around Christmastime would probably be just a bit much for me.

We normally go to the World the first week of December. My birthday is December 5th, the same day as Walt's by the way. It's right after Thanksgiving so that rush is over and the Christmas decorations are up so it puts you in the spirit of the season without the heavy crowds. The temperatures are really nice this time of year too.

We have also been in March and April as well. April is good but you have to be strategic in your planning to miss Spring Breakers.

I keep thinking of all of those spring breaks we spent waiting in "pre-fastpass-era" lines before people really knew HOW to do Disney World...my poor mom and dad... sad sad laugh

I've always found that spring break is the absolute worst time to visit any theme park. So many kids.....

It's bad all around but ESPECIALLY at parks like Six Flags, where their demo is not just teenagers but groups of teenagers...ick!

Speaking of, Disney can be bad in May when there are all of the school groups around. But usually they travel in packs and are slow... laugh

My sister and I will be going in September of 2009, which will be our 4rth September trip. I have noticed that September is getting busier but still not as bad as the year we went in July!! I was in nursing school at the time-that was the only time of year I could go.. We still had fun, but never again(unless I win a trip, or someone offers to take me. wink ).

I like September because it's easier to get that time off from work...most of my coworkers have kids going back to school at that time.

I totally agree about September. It used to be dead, but it's definitely been increasing each year. Is there an accepted explanation for that?

Though you don't have the parks to yourself like you did in years past, I still swear by January, avoiding MLK Weekend and Marathon Weekend.

Crowd levels are low and it's value season so you can get really good deals whether you book 'room only' or a package.

The trade off though, is that there usually tends to be rehab closings during January, ironically for the very same reasons that makes it a good time to go. (low crowds, value season).

One possible explanation is that in recent years, late August-September is when Disney has been offering the Dining Plan free of charge.

Nothing brings the crowds in like free food! mad laugh

Imagineer: Very true about the free dining. That promo has really done its job for Disney! Also, I agree that January is a great time to visit. The weather is great (unless you want to swim...)

I looooove visiting in January! It's absolutely DEAD in the parks, you don't have to fight for dining reservations, you can get some great upgrades, and the weather is fantastic.

The only thing missing is a "seasonal event" like Food and Wine, MNSSHP, MVMCP, or Flower and Garden.

Easy dining reservations is such a big deal for me. I haven't gotten to go to Le Cellier in quite a while! mad
