As stated in another thread, Disney CEO & President Bob Iger was on The VIEW today. Here's what he had to say:
(Whoopi did a piece about a huge warehouse full of Disney memorabilia. This was the real stuff, as the lady showing them to her wore white gloves before handling any of the items, including books from Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella. There were 1500 costumes on display, including one worn by a little boy who was the model for Pinocchio. They also had one of Walt's Oscars, Walt's office telephone, and a ton of Mouseketeer stuff. Whoopi also sang Big Al's song from Country Bear Jamboree. There was a LOT of other stuff)
Iger was asked (in an obviously set up question) about a "Disney Museum" possibility, and he said "We have such an unbelievable collection, it would be a shame not to be able to figure out a way to show it to more people". Said there are no immediate plans, but it is inevitable. (his words)
He made the official announcement of D23 on the show and gave everybody in the audience a one years membership.
He was wearing an original 1933 Mickey Mouse watch which was REALLY cool! Told a neat story that he bought the watch for himself when Disney bought ABC back in 1995 to celebrate becoming a cast member. He said Walt was presented with the 25,000,000th Mickey Mouse watch in 1957! Wow!
He also did a bit about Barbara Walters being named a Disney Legend this past October. (Why the hell would Barbara Walters be a DISNEY Legend? ABC Legend, maybe, but DISNEY?)
Overall, he came across as a pretty cool guy, but thats based on about ten minutes of camera time.
I think I'll send him a note tonight about my "Museum Resort" concept that we talked about on here.
