So I've been to WDW three times now (age 12, 14 & 28) and my wife (age 24) once. She thought I was nuts for wanting to honeymoon there in the beginning, but she ended up falling in love with WDW and now we both cannot wait to go back! In June of 2012, we honeymooned there. We planned to go back in Oct/Nov of 2013, but we had an unexpected (but joyous!) pregnancy (due any day now!), and thus we decided to defer our trip to another time.
So we have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and a new baby due any day. I really want to go back to WDW alone with the wife. I don't think I'd want to take my kids there until they are around 10 & 14. That is around the age I first went, and I'll never forget those memories. It was amazing! I also like the idea of my kids getting to run around the parks by themselves. Also, we live 60 minutes from Disneyland / CA Adventure, so they'll certainly get their Disney fill when they are youngsters. I think our daughter has been to DL & CAA over 25 times.
So we're thinking fall of 2015 would be a good time to go. Our baby boy will be nearly 2 by then, and capable of being without us for a week or so.
So some questions for you parents out there.
1. Do you ever go to the world without the kids? If so what age were they when you left them at home?
2. When did you first bring your kids to WDW? Were they too young for it to be enjoyable?
3. Is there an age you'd recommend they first visit WDW? Obviously I am aware WDW is fun for all ages, but I'm speaking in terms of it being a vacation the whole family can enjoy, versus cost, versus parents & kids getting some alone time. Does that make sense?
Thanks to all of you wonderful people on this forum. It's a blessing to have a place like this to share & explore our love of Disney.
