Canada Pavillion - OMG SO EXCITED!!!!

This was posted on disboards on facebook by Paul Deim.

Simple words can not express how excited I am about this change to the Canadian Pavillion. I LOVE Canada. I LOVE most things Canadian. I always thought Canada could do so much better with their Pavillion. This new show is going to be awesome.

It will be put on by The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show. I have seen their shows in the past and they are really good. Adding the Disney Touch will make it SO MUCH BETTER.

yay muchlove clapping clapping awesome stars

I might be a little excited.

The name of the show, per the rumor mill, will be The Canadian Lumberjack Show.

Let's not forget that Off Kilter wasn't actually a Canadian Band either. mickey

However, strictly speaking, yes, as his story was first recorded by American authors for publication in America and American advertising companies picked it up to propagate the myth. However (please excuse my history geek side taking over here) when discussing the oral tradition of Paul Bunyan and the Northwoods lumbermen you need to allow for free drift across the southern Canadian border. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan (which all lay claims to Paul Bunyan) were primarily settled by the same French explorers and pioneer families that settled New France in what is now Canada. In addition wages at the time that the stories are thought to have their origin were much higher in America and plenty of Canadian men migrated to work in the old Northwest Territory. French-Canadian timberman, Fabian Fournier is frequently thought to be the person used for the basis of Paul Bunyan. In studying the Paul Bunyan tales one learns that they freely change and shift in location and extraordinary acts as freely as if they were still oral tradition - everyone likes to add their own spin to it.

Setting aside the origins of the myth, there is a Disney connection to Paul Bunyan. In 1958 Walt Disney produced these lumberjack tales in their collection of American folk tales putting their own spin onto it.

If they have a kiosk for poutine and/or beaver tails (Pastry shaped like a beaver tail), I'm in on that!

Snif - I still feel a little sad seeing that stage with red curtain drawn. It will take me a few trips to move on from no Off Kilter, even though I am sure I will like the new stuff too. I will just miss those guys. sad

I think I read somewhere Epcot used to sell beaver tails until 2004 (Apparently they stopped selling due to poor sales.) What a shame they're no longer there. I'd swear IF a kiosk was there and the beaver tails done properly, it'd be better than the cronut.
