Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace

Has anyone been to Cape May Cafe breakfast and/or Crystal Palace dinner recently? We're planning on doing these character meals for my daughter on our December trip but would like to hear about the food. The in-laws are partial to standard, all-American fare while I'm more adventurous and pickier about quality. Any reviews (added bonus for any links to detailed trip reports!) would be appreciated!

P.S. I had been hoping to do Crystal Palace for breakfast and Cape May for dinner as the Cape May dinner sounded a little more exciting, but unfortunately we had to switch them as I just found out Cape May isn't a character meal at dinner. Bummer!

We like Crystal Palace for breakfast rather than dinner, but we like Cape May better for breakfast than Crystal Palace. We have not been to either one for dinner in a while. I think the food quality regardless is better at Cape May. Just my opinion.

We went to the Cape May Cafe breakfast on our past trip and it was great! Food was very good and we were there at the tail end of breakfast. Still had everything fresh and a whole lot of food out!

We had breakfast at Cape May in 2013. It was really good and seemed more laid back than Tusker House was. It's a much calmer character meal.

I had dinner at Crystal Palace this past February. It was good but nothing special. Standard buffet food really. However, i would eat there again mickey

I am not a fan of the Crystal Palace dinner.

Yeah I figured Crystal Palace would be pretty standard, mediocre buffet food. Which probably means the in laws will love it. Penny is a big Pooh fan too so I feel like we kind of have to...

Cape May is my *favorite* Character Breakfast, I find the food a little higher quality then the other buffets. It seems to have a touch more flavor, but it's not over the top so basic eaters will be fine too. I think the food gets turned over a little faster than at other buffets too. There are often fewer kids at this restaurant, and because of how it's laid out you don't get that feeling like you're being over-run like Chef Mickey's can have. The character interaction is leisurely and never feels rushed to me, plus you get Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck!

Your praise of Cape May is one of the reasons I originally added it to our list, Kristen! awesome

Sorry, Allie. I got nothin'. We love Cape May, but we've only been for dinner. We haven't been to Crystal Palace.

I guess I'm the odd person out here! As a vegan breakfast buffets just don't do it for me. But I've had a few wonderful experiences at dinner at CP. My youngest has allergies and the chef made him a wonderful steak just how he liked it and he also pointed out what was safe, plus made him a fruit plate. I've also never failed to find a wonder assortment of food I'll eat. My dh also found a few things that were above our expectations. I don't think you can go wrong not matter what you choose to do.

Oh that's awesome, Figgy! I've had a really hard time finding any reviews (good or bad) on CP dinner so thanks for the feedback! We're going to do it regardless because I know my daughter will love the characters, but it makes me feel better to hear the food is at least decent, too.

You're welcome! I hope you have as good a time as we've always had.
