Celebrating: Try Something New, or Stick with a Tried and True Favorite?

We are celebrating some really good news that my mom just got. We love our tradition of lunches at Brown Derby, and we try to do that at least once a year, but I think this calls for something special. I'm trying to decide whether to do something different, or stick with a favorite (Brown Derby, California Grill, Artist Point.) What would you do? We are looking more for a fantastic food and wine experience here than something with characters, and it can be parks or resorts. I just don't want to book something new and be disappointed...but I feel like we always go with the "safe" option of what we know.

Thanks!

For me, the California Grill is always a great choice for a celebratory dinner. The food never disappoints and the atmosphere is so festive! Congrats to your mom on her good news!

Agreed. Cali Grill never disappoints! And tell them you are celebrating in your ADR! Maybe they'll do something special!

I love Brown Derby, especially for lunch. They have a more "dinner-centric" lunch menu than a lot of places and the food is consistently great.

If you do decide to move your lunch to a different venue, here is a list of my favorite lunch places. In honor of Stacey's seventh anniversary:

Jym's Top-7 Must-do Lunch Restaurants (other than Brown Derby):
7. Marrakesh
6. Wolfgang Puck Cafe
5. Coral Reef
4. Le Cellier
3. Grand Floridian Cafe
2. Via Napoli
1. Sanaa

I second Jiko, amazing food and atmosphere!

Can you do the three restaurants you listed PLUS a fourth one? That way, even if you're disappointed you will still have your traditional favourites.

I was also going to suggest Bistro de Paris for food/wine reasons, as both are amazing (!!!) but the atmosphere is more "fine dining" than celebratory. California Grill and Jiko are both more festive.
