Colonial Williamsburg

I don't know whether any of you are history buffs, but if you ever plan on visiting Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, try booking a room in one of the colonial houses. They're right in the middle of the historic area, so you could wake up in the morning and see history out your window. It's the Williamsburg equivalent of staying in a room at the Contemporary with a view of Cinderella's Castle. The rooms aren't cheap, but they cost less than a deluxe room at Disney World. We just got back from a long weekend staying in a tavern on the main street through the historic area, and it was awesome.

That's a good tip and great to know. I love that area. I haven't been there for close to 20 years. I think it's time for a trip back.

That sounds awesome. I haven't been to Williamsburg in years.

I am a HUGE history geek! It's always been my dream to stay in one of the colonial houses for a week over Christmas there with the whole family. Someday... some day....

Very few of those rooms seem to accommodate a family. I'm sure there must be some, but we've never been able to snag one.

I love Williamsburg! Like most people I haven't been there in a few years but it was always a lot of fun! Thanks for the tip. Have you stayed there recently? Do you have pictures?

Trueblue, to accommodate a family I think you would need more than one room. In some cases, two rooms have a connecting door or hallway so the rooms can be combined for a family. Also there are small houses with two (or more) bedrooms that will accommodate a family. But I'm not aware of any single rooms that will accommodate more than two people.

Bella, we were there just this past weekend and had a great time. No photos of the room, unfortunately. It was a small room with twin beds on the second floor, cozy but nice, and one window overlooked the main street in the historic area. Just a few steps from everything! We've stayed elsewhere in Williamsburg in the past, but we'll never stay anywhere but the colonial houses from now on.
