Just FYI - I moved this topic over from the Hotels forum to the Business Trip Planning forum.

How exciting! If you have to travel for business, you might as well have to travel to Disney! awesome
Will the company be adding any special Disney parties and such, or is it too soon to know that?

Sounds cool,.. Jersey had an EMS convention at the Contemporary back in the late 90s (right around the time I joined the squad,.. was a shame I missed it. Not sure if they would do it again,.. I'd love to go. Then again,.. I have a house in Florida now, so my time in Jersey is short.

OMG, who do you work for and where do I send my resume!! laugh Sounds like fun, although it would be SO hard for me to sit in a conference knowing the wonderful World of Disney was right outside!

When our company attended a conference there in 2006 we could purchased "after 4 pm" tickets at a reduced price. Not sure if they still offer this or not, but might be worth checking into! We loved the location of the Dolphin - enjoy!

How awesome for you. I hate business trips, but I would be happy to go to WDW on business, as long as I got some park time in the evening or by extending the trip a few extra days like you are. Enjoy!

Probably too soon to know but it is the conference that I get to entertain customers all week from Kentucky! Oh the dinner possibilities! My head is just swimming with ideas!! The nights are free for me to take customers out so any suggestions would be fantastic!

I work for Scholastic which is a little ironic that we are at Disney considering the HP influence at the company! I can't wait. We will be hosting customers there and I will get to set up dinners and experiences for them. I would love suggestions if anyone has any for me!

The first two that come to mind are California Grill and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Thanks I will write those down. I know I will need to make ADRs early!! I am most familiar with the restaurants at POFQ and at the parks but not at the other resorts. Isn't there a great restaurant at the Poly too?

Hey kywild, I am a media specialist who has run scholastic book fairs for 10 years! Who knew they took folks to Disney! awesome

I'd first ask, how many people are you talking for meals? California Grill would be nice, but wow, what a bill that would be. And where will you be staying. Contemporary is a great conference center and The Wave is a really good restaurant and not pricey at all. For breakfast you can have buffet or order off menu. The restaurant's theme is the wave of American cuisine and focuses on food that is locally grown as well as being organic and sustainable. Don't let the "locally grown as well as being organic and sustainable" scare you, this place rocks!

How long do you think you're going to add on? Have you been during the summer before?

Kristen, I'm nervous about summer because I haven't been in the middle of summer since I was a young girl! I'm thinking three or four days and maybe try to do some things outside the parks like the water parks and maybe some of the other experiences at the poly or wilderness.

We are also looking into investing into DVC so we thought about using the time to explore resorts.

Wait a minute! Thread hijack! Are you going to WDW the week of Thanksgiving? Do you work in the public school system? I am always curious how other educators can get out of work to go to Disney for vacation. I seriously thought about calling out sick for a week in Dec. lol. Then, I figured someone would spot me! lol

Yes, I am going the week of Thanksgiving Eeyore! BUT I am not dodging any school...we get the entire week off. That is why I have to go back in 3 days, on August 1. Yukko. But nice to get that week to go to Disney! mickey

Um...I just take the days off. Do you have to provide a doctor's note or something? Do you only have sick leave? We get flex days, so we can use them for whatever we want, just not on certain days. Then whatever is left at the end of the year changes into sick leave. It's pretty much awesome AND I get to brag about going to Disney to all my students. mickey

I work for the Education group and sell RTI programs to districts. I work mainly with central office administrators. It's funny because as soon as I walk in the schools the first place they want to send me is the library and I have to explain that I am not the book fair lady Smile!! (Even though that would be really cool to sell too!!)

Ohhhh! Dang, we only get Wed - Fri off during the week of Thanksgiving! We are highly discouraged to ask for time off before/after a holiday. What state are you in again? Yea, I have two more weeks of freedom then it's back to reality for me!

I am in NC and in case you haven't heard lately...lol...We are ranked 46th in the nation for teacher pay and have the most lame schedule ever! We get 1 sick day per month and 2 personal days per year. If you take a sick day for three days or more you must provide a note. Personal days can be taken at any time BUT I am docked $50 per day to help pay for the sub. Is that not CRAZY? What state are you in?

Interesting that you sell RTI. Our county does RTI but now the initials have changed I guess. And now we are doing PLC (professional Learning Communities) also. Not sure about it, we have training next week when we go back for planning. We are in Pasco Co. FL. Do you ever get down here, or do you stay local?

I work in Georgia, in Forsyth County, north of Atlanta. We actually got a 2% raise this year for the first time in several years, and maintained our 3 furlough days - no more. Also, the district just hired 280 new teachers to relieve the class size, as we are now at over 40K kiddos in the county.

We are also not allowed to take leave adjacent to a holiday. But we do get some nice long ones in there. Summer, however, is a bit short. Smile

That is CRAZY! What a shame! I taught for 12 years prior to entering education sales and it blows my mind that one of the most important professions can be treated the way they treat educators! Yes, you can come work with me biggrin
