I was talking to a friend about DTD and I was trying to think of any cool things to do down there that didn't cost anything. The best I could come up with was playing with the LEGOs. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Hmm...Window shopping?! Also, you can take a boat ride from DTD up to POR -- a really nice ride.

That is a really nice boat ride; and you can also walk over to Saratoga Springs to do some resort hopping. I'm a big fan of people watching in Downtown Disney, as well -- but that's one of my favorite past times!
Also, don't forget to go get your free chocolate at Ghirardelli!

Wha?!?
Free chocolate? Really???
Really! Ghiradelli gives out free chocolate squares to each visitor. Gotta go into the "store" part of the shop, though.

Not quite a very grownup thing to do but I watch with envy the little munchkins playing in the fountains on a hot summers day and wish I could join them.
Parking is free in DTD and of course you could always catch a bus to the parks where it isn't.
Watch the magic show at the magic shop.
Sunbathe on the steps.
Sometimes they have art shows & the lego exhibit.

I've NEVER been to the Magic Shop! What kinds of shows do they do?

I know we've had threads on it before, but we really enjoy DTD. Just walking around and checking out all the wares is a good time for us, even if we're not buying anything. Also, we CAN NOT leave DTD without eating at Earl of Sandwich.
I'm with you L4L...we LOVE the Earl. The best food in DTD IMHO...Bongos was good one time and then not so good the next, the Earl is consistenly good and a good value!!

Okay -- Everyone loves Earl of Sandwich, so I started on thread where you can tell me what's going to make it my favorite sandwich place too:

Actually, this is not true. You can't go to any of the theme parks by catching a bus at DTD. You can go to the resorts, but not the theme parks. This is because they want to make it not that easy for people to not pay parking at the theme parks by doing what you are suggesting.

Of course you could always get a bus to an Epcot resort and walk through to the park, or to a monorail resort and then use that to get to MK. We did a smilar thing in reverse last year going from Epcot to DTD. Getting to DHS or AK would require a bit more thought though.
I can only please one person per day. Today isn't your day... tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Oh, there's plenty of ways to go around the system. But still, the fact remains that you can't go directly to a theme park on a bus from DTD. They'll try to make it that if you want to avoid it, you'll have to pay in terms of the time it takes and the amount of effort you'll have to put in to get there.

I don't think I've ever gone to a park from DTD! I've only ever gone there at night, so I had no idea that you couldn't get a bus to one of the theme parks.
Can you still get a bus from one theme park to another theme park?
You couldn't last time I stayed on property.

I think you can. Last time I was there, I can still see buses with other theme parks listed on the front in the buses area at Animal Kingdom. So I'm assuming that you can still do park-hopping using the buses.

I'm intrigued by these magic shows. I'll have to go do some research!

How was the weekend trip, Chriskre?!?
I LOVE the Full Montagu, and DH loves the Club! Everything else there is really good...we've never had a bad meal at the Earl and we usually eat there every trip.
