Cruising Losing Steam?

I haven't heard many people talking as much about taking cruises lately. Has it jumped the shark? Is it the economy? Or am I just not paying attention to the right places?

I have a theory that Disney fans like to cruise, but they like the parks even better so if they have to cut something because of the economy it will be a cruise. Anyone have plans for a cruise in the near future?

I'm not a cruiser, but I can definitely say that given my inability to even make it to a park, trying anything new is definitely off the table.

I was just reading somewhere that Disney's cruiseline income is it's most steady. I know they have a lot of repeat cruisers, and they're always voted in the top five ships in general travel publications like Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure.

We will be cruising (Disney) for sure when we have kiddos. I've done a good amount of research that indicates DCL is not a good value for adults. Doesn't mean it's not a great experience, just that for adults only you can do much better for your money on another cruise line. Those traveling with kids generally report the extra cost of a Disney cruise is well worth it.

Is that just because Disney is more kid-oriented?

Does non-Disney cruising interest you? Or do you figure you'll just wait and do Disney with the kids?

I've read a lot of reviews and other information specifically about Disney cruises sans children. They do have ample locations and activities for adults, but yes by and large everything is geared towards families with children. The general consensus (from what I've gathered) is adults without kids still have a good time, but not enough to justify the extra cost of cruising Disney.

We would like to take a cruise before we take a Disney cruise with the kids (which we don't yet have). DW has never been on a cruise. I have been on one, Carnival, and it was outstanding.

I didn't know Disney cruises were significantly more expensive than others! I'll have to take a look at some research myself.

I think cruising is great for family reunions and such, but I'm not 100% sure I'd want to do it yet. Watch, I'll be the crazy cruise convert as soon as I try one!

Just met with a travel agent friend who mentioned a Disney mediterranean cruise priced at $25 per person per night for the travel agent discount. Makes me wanna be a travel agent...

Woah. Any idea what that costs normally? That has to be at least 75% off.
