At least we can see why Mousefest went "on hold".
Anybody besides me think somebody dropped the ball on that page? You look at the entire first page and it doesn't tell you WHEN the event is.
Sure looks like fun though!

I would still imagine that MouseFest would have a lot of plusses that D23 doesn't have. I wonder how much they were "encouraged" to drop it.

I doubt that Disney said a word. The whole explanation of why Mousefest was dropped always seemed tainted anyway. They said it had gotten too big and nobody wanted to assume the reins or some malarkey like that. They were going to "hold off a year or so" and decide what to do.
You work your butt off to make something a success and then abandon it when it is?
I would have jumped into something like that in a heartbeat to try and keep it going.

I CAN understand if you're putting lots of time into it and NOT getting a financial return. Sure, you can keep putting time into it under the assumption that it'll pay out eventually, but there's gotta be a line in the sand for that sort of thing...

Then they complained because the structure they had developed for it didn't work.
Beats the heck outta me!

I said at the time, that I'd take it over under its present structure and run it at break even, IF I could get a free trip to WDW.
Still feel that way. But I'm weird, in that I enjoy doing stuff like that.

It was awfully popular to just let go like that. I'm with Mousetraveler, if it's not making money, restructure it so it does. You had a really enthusiastic fan-base, why just let them drift away?
They MUST be doing something with it. Maybe it'll be back next year.
