Day 6: The Not-Quite-President's-Day Trip Report

We finally slept in this morning (yes...we should have listened to MT and Zapperz when we made our plans waiting laugh ) and finally headed to Magic Kingdom via boat at around 11:00.

Magic Kingdom was crowded (probably due to a combo of Presidentâs Day and Extra Magic Hours that morning), so we strolled through Main Street and went to our Plaza ADR. Got some fun pictures on the way:

There was a cool glass-blowing demonstration in one of the shops:

Wares being sold @ glass-blowing shop:

Saw the Barbershop Quartet several times during our stay:

And here's the Plaza:

A chicken sandwich, cheesesteak, and sundae later, we watched the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade, took a few more photos, and headed back to the resort (there were just too many folks to justify riding much).

Move it Shake it Celebrate it! (THE CROWDED VERSION!):

Awwwwwwww muchlove

Here's where you go to see those fairies:

The Celebrate Today Make Your Own Ears station at Le Chapeau:

Patches for your make-your-own ears:

The weather just couldnât be better, and taking the boat back to the WL was delightful. We checked in with work and then headed out to our DVC appointment!

Wilderness Lodge:

DVC Model Rooms: Contemporary and Treehouse Villas model

From there, we came back to WL to watch the duck race (yep; I said "duck race"), and then got to the gym.

Duck race!!!

Then it was back to the Contemporary for another go at the California Grill and watching Wishes from outside on the viewing deck.

Bay Lake Towers from viewing deck:

Good Night!!

I thought the glass blowing furnace was a brick pizza oven at first and I was excited to see what restaurant had brick oven pizza!

All these years and I never knew there was a glass-blowing exhibit! Is that new???

Also, really cute towel animal! Is that at WL?

Great photos! Wow, those were some crowds at MK.

That is so cool that they have glass blowing demos. I've never read about that before. Must be one of those "little known facts" about WDW. Good thing to keep in the back of my mind if I want to do something a little different at MK some day.

Thanks for the report!

@cdub: Ha ha!! I'm not certain there are NO restaurants with brick ovens for pizza (in fact, I think Mama Melrose's does!)

@bali: Yep--that's at WL. We got a towel animal every day!

@SF: It was very cool. I watched a glassblowing demo in upstate New York once and got hooked--it was so cool to see it in WDW.

@SpaceAce: Hee hee! The duck races are put on for the kids just about every day. Kids get plastic ducks with numbers on them and they float them down Silver Creek. The first one to get to the end wins (not sure what they win, but they win, and that's important when you're 8!!)
