Decide for me!

I'm really struggling to decide whether or not to surprise my boyfriend with Island of Adventure tickets for his birthday. I have just a few weeks left to decide, and I need to hurry up and make a decision because if I go with 'no' then I need time to frantically come up with something else. I can't decide, so I think you guys should decide for me Smile

To help with the decision:

We have never been to WWoHP, but both have been to IoA before when we were kids.
We both love Harry Potter.
We are going for 2 weeks; however, we are already going to all of Disney (obviously), Discovery Cove and Seaworld.
We are on a tight budget!
We are going in September (don't know if that will make any difference to opinions either way!?)
This will probably be the only time we go to Orlando together without kids (which neither of us plan on having for a long yet!)
I'm not sure we'd be able to deal with WWoHP if the queues are hours long.

Okay, so ... do I buy the IoA tickets!?

I say go for it! The only thing that is making me second guess is the tight budget. With the economy this year... thats a tough one to deal with. But I say if you can swing it to go for it!

I haven't been to WWoHP yet, but it looks like it'd be pretty fun just to walk around in. Of course that's also a day you could be spending at Disney. I still voted yes though, because I like surprises!

Toss my hat into the Yes pool! I think it would be a fun surprise. And if he does not think so, I am pretty sure I can be available... biggrin

One question... Does he like coasters? Answer yes then definately YES, do it. Although a coaster fan would like Busch Gardens too and you can add that to your Seaworld/Discovery Cove tickets quite cheaply.

Yes! We went last year in early September to see WWoHP and the lines were really short. We were able to ride the Hogwarts ride 3 times and only waited like 15-20 mins at the most.

You are asking a forum of enablers, you know this right?

Wow, so it's looking like a definite yes then! Laughing out loud

Haha, a very good point. Maybe that means subconsciously I was just wanting someone to tell me to buy the tickets Smile

Yes he does like coasters! The problem with Busch Gardens is that it's further away and we don't drive, so it would be much more difficult to get to. Plus, the biggest draw of IoA is WWoHP since we both are fans.

This is excellent news! I really hope it's like that again this September! What kind of time of day did you go to the Harry Potter section to get those short queues?

We'll be there with our other friends at that point so won't be Universalling on those days (don't think they'll be doing Universal). To be honest I don't think we'll be deciding what we'll be doing on what day before we get there (other than Discovery Cove, obviously, because you have to). Noone that I'm going with is a 'planner' Smile

So true. laugh Although Brad's point that you're spending Disney time at Universal might be relevant too. Generally though if you're thinking he's like it, he probably will. You've probably got great instincts on the subject.

Well, we're in Disney for 2 weeks, so there's definitely time to venture outside the magical walls Smile I just thought, not only does he love Harry Potter but he's a big Marvel fan too, so I reckon IoA will be right up his street. I guess it will give us some bigger rides than Disney for a day as well.

Yep, I'll definitely get the tickets. Cheers decision team!

Do it! Also, don't worry too much about the crowds. Just *get there at opening* and you'll be fine and dandy. Last August the only time there was a long line for the Forbidden Journey was mid morning through afternoon. The other rides didn't have waits at all. Trust me, there is enough there to just stand and stare at that you can definitely use the busier times to sit and watch people/the interactive buildings.

So true...I say go for it as well. Even if the lines are long then there will be other things for you to enjoy. But I think that things have calmed down a bit & Sept is a good time to go.

I went to IoA many years ago, before Harry Potter, and if he is a Marvel fan then for sure check out the Spiderman Adventure and the Hulk coaster. I love those!
With being a Harry Potter fan, a Marvel fan AND a coaster fan I think (other than the money) this is a no brainer. My husband and I are going to be be there to see Harry Potter in October! I can't wait.

Kayb swept away my doubts so I say go for it. As for $$...you have to buy him something, so if you think he'll enjoy IOA, it might as well be this, and then you can cross something off your to do list. It's a win-win! biggrin
