Dinner at Boma

Had dinner at Boma last night. If you've never been check out all the info on Boma at the AKL fan site. Our server was excellent and very helpful. We find that makes a huge difference in our level of enjoyment there. Despite it being a buffet, the server is important!

I was pretty boring. I had my usual first course: Sun Dried Tomato Hummus, Salad and bread:

If you haven't tried the hummus there, give it a go. It's wonderful. I always get the Mango vinaigrette on my salad.

Since they didn't have the Muligatawny I tried the Lentil and Sausage soup. It turned out I may actually like it better.

It's got a great collection of spices that just border on spicy without quite getting there. It's also very hearty. I really enjoyed it. Then I went and got a very boring plate of meat and french fries:

The mealie bread on there is one of my favorite things at Boma. I'm always a little disappointed by the meats. Not because they aren't good but because they look like they're going to be AMAZING. So I'm always expecting more. I was nearly full anyway so it didn't matter much.

Finally the important part...dessert:

I don't think I'd had the particular variety of cheesecake before. It was caramel and it was GREAT. I had to go back and get some more.

Really good meal at Boma. With all the variety I thought I'd start a thread on your favorite dishes at Boma. Go let me know what they are!

Yumm!! I love the way Boma smells (and taste of course!) We stayed at AKL on our honeymoon and our room was one one floor up directly across from Boma and that smell just hit us in the face whenever we walked out of our door.

BOMA is one of our faves...we eat there every trip. I love just about everything there, but must confess I have never had any of the salads. I'm kind of a meat and potatoes gal and don't want to "waste the space" Smile)

Trust me - try the watermelon rind salad - it's INCREDIBLE.

Boma is my favorite restaurant - anywhere. I WISH we could go more often - Caitie doesn't like it much but tolerates it for me.
