Why does it make you sad?

It has succeeded in making people talk about it. The woman being attached by seagulls is actually fairly accurate, the gulls are aggressive and will attack for food. Art is subjective, if we all weren't such Disney fans would it matter so much to us?

Mr Hub is right, he is not interested and didn't look at it and that is the free will. I am curious I would like to go and see it to make a proper informed judgement on it.

I read an article about it. I realize this puts me way in the minority around here, but I wish I were in the UK so I could see it. I thought it looked really interesting, an artist's interpretation of theme parks. I can love my Disney parks and still get a kick out of Dismaland.

Edited to add: I would go wearing a Disney T-shirt and all my Disney pins just to play along.

Dismaland sounds like a theme park an adult animated TV show would name to parody the Disney parks. I wouldn't have the nerve or the interest in going there myself. Still, talk about extreme opposites. A lot of us consider Disney World or the Disney parks in general to be paradise. Dismaland, on the other hand, is anything but paradise!

That's just how it made me feel. To me the images within every article i've read are super depressing. You are right, art is subjective and not everyone will feel the same way about it. I just simply stated that it made me feel sad.

I have seen it and there is a lot of stuff in there that is "eye catching" makes you think. Such as the carousel horse seen where they are hung like slaughter horses and packaged up into boxes that read "Lasagna". That one really speaks to my heart as I am anti horse slaughter and I run a rescue where I pull horses from the auctions where they face slaughter. In march I pulled a mini horse from there that was one of the last ones standing, and if I had not he would have been food for big cats at the Zoo's that is what they go to. They don't weigh enough to go to big slaughter but they are big enough to feed cats. So its tough. Banksy is an artist like that. He doesn't like corrupt government either. It is just another way to bring light to some darkness. And Dismaland, is also a play on words with that too. Disney= happiest place on earth, dismaland= unhappiest place on earth. Just a play on words. I love Disney, and I also think Dismaland is interesting, I wouldn't go there but it is someone's point of view.

I think it looks really interesting actually. As much as I love Disney and all that is involved with it, my taste in art tends to be on the darker side. The pictures I have seen so far have been very intriguing.

Here's a link to an article plus the trailer for the 'park'. It is meant to be an art exhibition and, I would guess, a statement on theme parks generally although the biggest influence here is Disney. There are elements of Seaworld and Universal as well as the big statement on Disney.

One of my facebook friends went this weekend. I know Banksy is super trendy and everyone thinks he's a artistic genius but I'm just not a fan.
