Disney Animated Movies

So I was looking at this list of Disney animated movies and I noticed it has been quite a long time since something of the caliber of the Lion King had been made (excluding Pixar stuff). I still had in my mind the era of Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast/Aladdin/Lion King, all of which I think can appeal to an adult. I thought Lilo and Stitch was "cute" and Tarzan was watchable, but by and large I was sort of shocked to see how many movies that were "ok at best" have been made since a great one. Makes me skeptical of the upcoming 2d movies. Is Pixar the new Disney? Or maybe I'm just a dork and actually the Little Mermaid wasn't as "adult friendly" as I remember?

I think the post "Lion King" there was a definite drop off. The following ones were watchable but not as broadly appealing.

I liked Pocahontas, Hunchback, Tarzan, Mulan, and Hercules, but I was still in school when all of those were released. My favorite recent movie was Brother Bear, but I agree, I don't think the movies are as good as they used to be.

I'm always curious if the Little Mermaid through Lion King era is as
much better as it seems, or if I was just younger when I saw them the
first time. It sounds like maybe it was a little of both. I was younger when I saw them initially so I liked them better and they were a bit better to begin with. Those two things may have combined to make them seem that much better.
