Okay, so when I'm in The World, I see a LOT of Disney buses running. All. The. Time.
I know some "off property" hotels sometimes have Disney buses come and pick up guests from their resort, but do they do so with the same amount of frequency that you could expect when you're staying ON property??
I'm not aware of any Disney buses going to non-Disney hotels, with the exception of the Dolphin and Swan. They are non-Disney hotels but are on Disney property.

Kristen had a thread going where she asked about the Downtown Disney hotels. One of the other members (Ucf_Grad) mentioned that the non-Disney buses only ran every hour or two. That would be so inconvenient - miss a bus, and you are stuck waiting forever for the next one. Also, I notice that the Disney buses get priority drop-off/pick-up areas at the parks (naturally!), while the other buses are much further out in the parking lots. After a long day walking, those extra few hundred yards would seem forever!
We've considered staying in one of the Downtown Disney hotels, but decided the cons outweighed the pros.

I think that most off property hotels that run buses do so on an hourly basis, but it depends on the hotel. It's not the same as the full on property transportation system that Disney offers.
Also, if you're at MK, you need to go to Ticket and Transportation Center to pick up your bus. Only actual Disney buses stop at MK.
