Disney Classic Remakes

I just read where they are going to remake "Swiss Family Robinson" staring Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. SERIOUSLY?!? Nothing against those actors but I just hate it when they remake an old classic. Leave it alone! You just can't touch "John Mills & Dorothy McGuire".

Am I alone in this or does anyone else get irked when they re-do their favorite movies from childhood?

That seems to be the thing lately. Im thinking Hollywood is running out of original screen writers anymore. Even Spiderman is already getting a remake/reboot and its not even 10 years old yet. You got that one Kevin Bacon movie Footloose remade and coming out soon. Dirty Dancing was just announced. Remakes are just as bad as movies coming out in 3D. Now granted.... this new Spiderman looks amazing though... lol... and Footloose doesn't look half bad as well.

But I'm with you about the Smiths and Swiss... to me if thats remade now... it would be like Castaway without Wilson.

I heard about Dirty Dancing this morning. Didn't know about Footloose or Swiss Family Robinson. Can't anyone come up with anything original?

Lack of originality in the movie industry really bums me out.. I can't believe they are redoing Dirty Dancing!! And I agree.. I don't really see the Smiths for Swiss Family Robinson.. Good grief.

It's a must see for me, it was my absolute favorite movie for a long time! I remember the issues hitting home when I was a teenager, I even took my dad to see it so he would understand being a teen! Now I'll have to go with MY teens!
thanks for the post!

I'm with you, Poppet. It's rare that I love a remake...although I thought Father of the Bride was well done, I thought.
