Disney Crafts

Good Morning,

Not sure if this is the right place for this or even if it is appropriate to post (if not admin please feel free to remove) but I wanted to share with you a craft I have been doing for a while now. I also wanted to share it with people who 'get' Disney! This is my 1st attempt at designing (using movie stills and pixel software) my own project.... (He is missing a small section of nose pixels due to a small maths error on my part but the colour is on order hehehe)

It got me thinking - does anyone else craft Disney style?

I like that, can't miss those colours biggrin

It takes me longer to upload a right way up photo than it took to add in all those plastic pixels !!! silly

Cool! so how exactly did you make it? Is it printed out pixels that you assembled? Or did you create it on the computer? I am just curious about the artistry involved. I do a lot of random crafting and artwork, some of it based on Disney. When I get home later today I'll see if I can find anything to post Smile

The design is run through a computer program which gives me the patterns and colours required (there are 148 in there somewhere!) once the pattern in printed you place a clear peg plate over the pattern, there are 9 plates up there, then using the symbols on the paper you push a 2mm square resin pixel onto the peg. The patterns are easy as you only do 4 colours at a time before you move the plate onto another pattern section.

I buy my kits or supplies from
Thecraftdookit.co.uk (the software is a free download from here)
Mosaicraft.co.uk
But from the USA there are tons of sites, normally called pixel-hobby or similar.

I love to see what other people make, and if it's disney that's even better awesome look forward to seeing yours Em

Very nice, Brinbunny! awesome You learn something new everyday. When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was either counted cross-stitch or embroidery. I've never heard of pixel-hobby before. It's kind of neat. I wonder if you could take the pattern that's printed out and turn it into counted cross-stitch.

A lot of people turn one into the other, I think my software even has a cross stitch function, I have so many to finish though hahaha.

I love that - did you paint the detail by hand? I totally would hang that in my kitchen.

Tonight I am settling down to work on a latch hook rug (non disney)

Alicemouse that clock is so cool!! I've been making hula hoops as my latest crafts for the past week or so since my work had lots of left over tubing from a recent job.. but I think you guys have inspired me to do Disney crafts as my next endeavor... I'm definitely going to look into pixel-hobby that looks so fun!

Thanks, folks. I was going to freehand the silhouettes from pictures, but I was feeing lazy so I resized the silhouettes, printed them out, and traced them. Then I painted them in. The clock used to have an eiffel tower scene on it, but I had these two cool Alice in Wonderland prints that Benn bought at Baltimore Comic Con a few years ago and I wanted to hang the clock between them, but Paris wasn't thematically appropriate and it was just a flat clock, so I just re-imagineered it and added some dimension to it wink
