Disney Cruise Line dining

Is there a major difference between the restaurants on each boat or are they all pretty much the same (e.g. do Wonder and Magic both have a Palo, and artist's palette, etc...?)

Hi,

I think I can answer this to a limited extent, having sailed only on the Wonder. From what I understand, the Magic and the Wonder are virtually identical, with similar restaurants bearing different names and featuring slightly different cuisines.

Each ship has a grand dining room and a casual dining room. The grand dining room on the Wonder is called Triton's (after Ariel's dad) and has an "under the sea" Art Nouveau decor. The corresponding room on the Magic is called Lumiere's (after the candle in Beauty and the Beast) and has an Art Deco French decor. Both restaurants are off the main atrium in each ship, and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner (breakfast and lunch feature open seating)

The casual dining spot is called Beach Blanket Buffet on the Wonder and Topsider's on the Magic. Both ships have Parrot Cay (Caribbean-inspired cuisine); Palo (Northern Italian cuisine, reservations required, $15 or $20 cover charge), and Animator's Palette.

Thanks, Jim! Are the Palo restaurants similar in quality, do you know? i.e. Which Palo has better food? Smile

LeCellier hit it right on the head.

The only tangible difference in the two ships is the Triton/Lumiere name difference. Like everything Disney, you don't notice any tangible difference in quality between dining room A on the Wonder, and dining room A on the Magic.

I've never heard why all the restaurants are the same on the two except for this one.

As for Palo, its also interchangeable.

If you ever get on the DCL, try and get reservations for the Palo Brunch. I guarantee that you have never seen anything like it. It is almost overwhelming.

Incredible amount, and things I'd never heard of before. Pastries, meats, cheeses, sauces. Of all types and nationalities. It was unbelievable.

And the other amazing thing about it, is that it is served buffet style, and there is FAR more food out than the people that fit into Palo could eat. I have NO idea what they do with all the extra, but I'm sure it doesn't go to waste.

Maybe that's what they feed the crew. You're getting me fired up about this buffet!

It is amazing. I think we had sailed four Disney Cruises before we ever did the Brunch. Up to that point, I was pretty impressed with the food and the atmosphere, etc.

On our last cruise, we finally did the brunch, along with our friends from the UK. I've done a fair amount of traveling and I've eaten in some pretty good restaurants, but when Palo (which is already two or THREE steps up), breaks out the stepladder for the Brunch, you're going to enjoy it.

Geez, I've got to quit talking about this. I'm talking myself into another cruise!

I was just talking to a friend recently where I was questioning whether it was better to talk about Disney when you're not visiting or completely ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. We haven't been in forever and when we start talking about it we get fired up, but we don't even have a trip planned right now! sad

@MT--So even the MENUS are the same at the Palos? It's like an alternate universe... eek

@dsoup--Good question about whether or not to even talk disney when you don't have a trip planned. I'm going to vote that you DON'T talk disney when you don't have a trip, because talking Disney usually ends up in me booking a trip!! If you're trying to save cash--don't talk disney! mickey
