Disney Cruise - or Other?

We were just talking about combining a Disney Cruise with a few days in the parks in another thread. Here's a question: if you wanted to do a cruise, would it have to be Disney, or would you consider a cheaper option? Other lines cruise out of Canaveral, so it would be possible to do another company for less $$$. Also, there might be fewer kids on Royal Caribbean or Carnival.

Thoughts?

If we did one it would be Disney. We would use some, not all of our Disney points on it to make it a little bit cheaper. For me... I dont mind kids (Unless its in a movie theater like yesterday trying to watch Kung Fu Panda 2 with your family and the kids behind me werent being supervised and kicking my seat and talking throughout the movie), and in a setting like that... for a Disney trip, id expect it.

So yeah... if we did a cruise... it would be Disney.

We'd love to do disney but just can't justify the price. I've done RCCL out of Port Canaveral and Miami, both had lots of kids, but they are kepy busy and you don't see them much. Love RCCL, they do a great job and you can get a balcony for the cost of an inside room on Disney.

I just have this horrible perception of cruises being full of loud partying drunks, and think the only cruise I would be able to tolerate would be a Disney cruise.

WE have only gone on one cruise. IF and that is a great big if we ever did another it would have to be a Disney.

I've been looking in to going on an Alaskan cruise next year. Based on the price difference it won't be a Disney cruise.

I've priced out some cruises because I'd really love to do one..but..they are just SO much more expensive. I know you probably get the Disney treatment which I am sure is amazing...plus the bonus of Castaway Cay..but if we we would probably go another way simply because of the cost.

For me, as much as I love Disney - a cruise is a place that I could go non-Disney and be okay with it. I can't say it enough - and no, they aren't paying me Smile - be we really loved Holland America. I've now cruised Carnival, HAL, RCCL, and they've all been nice, but HAL was slightly better, with the traditional-looking ships, quieter atmosphere, gorgeous private island (Half Moon Key - since HAL is owned by Carnival, they both go there). Having said all that, I would like to do a Disney trip. And I would just set my expectations to understand that it WILL be kidful (which probably sounds funny coming from someone with 2 small kids.)

for me, no way, there is no other option, if we're going to do a cruise, it may as well be the best of the best, and lets face it, disney does it best Smile
