Disney Dining Plan Question

I have a dilemma!

we booked our holiday aaaaaaaaaaages ago and in the UK we qualified for QS dining plan so our reservation was all correct however later on we decided we wanted to upgrade to the Dining plan (1TS, 1QS, 1 snack) which we did through the company we booked with (not direct with disney) and as far as we were aware everything was fine.........However MDE still said QS dining plan, anyway a few phonecalls yesterday we discovered Disney hadn't actually changed the dining plan over eek so this request was being sent ASAP to get it changed.

Now my problem! my 180 day window opens tomorrow morning and I'm starting to freak out because I'm down on MDE with the wrong dining plan, now does anybody know if this will cause me any problems booking any ADR's, example Cinderella's Royal Table as I don't want to be charged but I don't want to miss the opportunity to book my time???

Can someone please help me to stop freaking out and hopefully tell me that my difference in dining plan wont affect my ADR bookings!!!!!

It shouldn't affect your ADRs. Cinderella's Royal Table would be the only one you would have a problem with. I would call up Disney dining to explain the situation and see if there is a way for you to get it booked without paying.

Thanks Mandy, I know when I have looked it asks you to pay upfront, if the dining plan hasn't changed by then if I booked and paid the money then once the dining plan changed would they refund?

It's a little difficult to ring as I'm at work when the window opens and by the time i get home the times might have gone I know it books up quickly

They also usually don't charge your credit card until the day of actual use, meaning they wouldn't charge it until you actually have your meal. This is one of the reasons we never use a travel agent!

Its not an actual travel agent we only used it because it was cheaper than Disney and we needed the extra pennies to spend!

So do you think if I book it the the dining plan gets changed they will remove the charge?

If you didn't us a certified Disney Travel agent, I honestly can't say. This you will have to call Disney about. Scrappy said they will charge your credit card because that meal has to be pre paid, but they should reimburse once you get the right dining plan on your account, but you will have to call them again to do that.

We have used our TA for the last two trips and the forth coming one and not only does she move things around to save us money without sacrificing the experience, she books our ADRs and explains things that I sometimes would be on line fighting with on my own.She also knows of upcoming special events or celebrations that I don't and makes a point to ask. I LOVE Susan (my TA at Disney Magic Vacations - not a plug, just honest!) and know she would find a way to make it happen and make me understand at the same time. 6 years ago the same plan we are going with in Sept costs us almost $1000 more than this trip and we didn't cut anything out AND we in a moderate. Nope, not giving up my Susan.

We were having a problem with linking our two parties on the Disney experience site and no matter how we tried it didn't work. I walked through with it with Susan and finally she said, "I am willing to bet 'someone' logged into ESPN at some time and actually has an existing account. To straighten that out, call this number and let me know how it was resolved." 10 minutes later I am talking to this wonderful CM (they are always so pleasant), and sure enough that was it, he linked us and sent a note to Susan as to what he did. Problem solved, and band ordered very everyone!

I have the Deluxe Dining plan and just tried to book CRT online. Even with the DDP, it still said advanced payment is required and that my credit card would be charged. So maybe everyone is charged in advance and then refunded once they use the dining plan credits. I think your best bet would be to call Disney to book the ADR and tell them the situation.

Yes there are certain ADR (that I know of) that require a Credit Card to HOLD the reservation but they do not charge anything as long as you appear for the ADR. This coming May trip I had to give a credit card number to hold Garden Grill, California Grill, Be Our Guest and Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package.

I just had the following chat with a CM regarding a cc being charged for CRT:

Barbara Binney: I have a Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. I was thinking about making an Advanced Dining Reservation online at Cinderella's Royal Table, but I was asked to enter my credit card information and that my card WOULD be charged $148. Would the $148 be refunded if I used my dining credits?

Jessica Tanner: Great question, I'm glad you asked!

Jessica Tanner: Some of our deluxe dining restaurants, like Cinderella's Royal Table, require a deposit to hold your reservation. You can contact our dining center directly to have them override the deposit and note your dining plan reservation.

Barbara Binney: OK. Thank you.

Jessica Tanner: Please call (407) WDW-DINE to have them get this set up for you.

I would think they would refund it, but you should probably contact Disney directly to find out for sure. If you log on to your MDE account and click on "Contact US," there are options to chat or email.

Kathy S., Have you seen that they are now having Star Wars character dining at H&V in May and it is now 2 dining credits or $59.99 per person for adults. They announced that today. ooo

Well I booked 10 today all of different popularities and character/non character and they all asked for a credit card to hold the reservation I wonder if you have to for everything now?

You do need a credit card to hold all TS meals now. I think that was changed toward the end of last year. We had to do it in December, too.

I think I had to give a credit card to hold every reservation I made for our May trip. I also believe you are now charged $10 per person for any ADR's you do not use or cancel at least 24 hours before hand.

When I was booking them it did say there is a charge if you don't turn up, $10 rings a bell not sure if it's per person or per booking?

I believe the $10 is per person. Disney is trying to crack on down people overbooking for their trips then not showing up.

The fee is $10 per person if you do not release the rez before 12 AM (midnigh)t the day of the trip.
