That's so fantastic!
I was told at a Disney chef talk last spring that Disney is actually the largest single purveyor of wine in the world. Many of the signature restaurants have multi-award winning wine lists, and you can get some of *the* most prestigious wines ever on board the Disney Dream. Some sell for thousands of dollars. At WDW the California Grill and Jiko wines are top notch for their genres. Disney has even created some cult favorites directly helping in their growth and word of mouth marketing. I've also spoken with the Iron Horse wine maker about the process of Fairytale Cuvee's creation and Disney puts a lot of effort into that with new tastings to refine it's taste after every harvest. There's really no shortage of great wine when you travel with Disney
I agree! I was at a local restaurant recently and had a glass of wine, and it was fantastic. The server told me that they got some of the lot, but that Disney has bought the rest...if memory serves, for Cali Grill. I was so impressed with Jiko's wine list. I'd love to do one of their tastings or tasting dinners. And Cali Grill is just an amazing, awesome wine experience. I credit that restaurant for my deep and abiding love of Zinfandel! Ha!

I've discovered two of my favorite wines at Disney. Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz from South Africa (you can buy it in the AKL gift shops) and Rosa Regale from Italy (Banfi has a whole shop in the Italy Pavilion). I've found them both here at home and buy them whenever I can. What I haven't been able to find at home is the Taittinger Brut Rose' Champagne that I had on the Disney Dream. OMG, it was to die for!
The post makes it sound like one of the awards is for their "beverage" service, which I'd imagine includes their cocktails. I've actually been a little disappointed by the homogenized drink menu, so I'm surprised they got an award for that part. They do have some great wine selections though.
True. I was researching beverage menus at Disney a while back, and there are a lot of the same things. However, I think it's pretty neat that they always try to feature different cocktails at the different Epcot world showcase restaurants. And I always love learning about wines there. Come to think of it, Disney was the first place that I had an unoaked Chardonnay as well.
