I think that is fabulous stuff, Mr. Hub. Keep up the good work!
Well I'm proud of myself! Since I had my heart attack last August, I've stopped smoking and have been using a tread mill everyday. I'm 51 years old, 222 lbs, and smoked since I was 12-14 yo. Well when I started the tread mill I was doing about a 20 minute walk and my pace was at 21-22. Monday I broke my first 16 min mile pace, which was a goal for me. I feel better then I have in many years. I have not lost any weight, but I have not gained either. No, it's not a 7 minute mile, but I'm not a runner and never plan on being one. (Although I wouldn't mind having one of those Disney medals). I'm just walking for my life! Just wanted to put that out there cuse I feel good about it.
That's wonderful, something that you definitely should be proud of!
Fellow Americans, I hear your tambourines inside my head and that's no lie!
Good job mrhub!
Yeah Mr. Hub!
Mike used to run marathons until he had a triple spinal fusion 6 yrs ago and the dr said he couldn't run anymore. He has been running again and is training for the Disney half marathon in Jan. Probably no more full marathons, but a half is great for him! He has run Disney marathons many times way back when, so it will be awesome to be back! We like to go and watch at the finish line every year, but this time HE will be finishing It is an incredible experience being there for the marathons and cheering as they run through the parks, the atmosphere is electrifying and full of pride for all the runners!

mrhub - That's GOOD STUFF right there! It's hard work to start a new exercise regimen and takes dedication to stick with it...that's awesome. And GOOD ON YA for putting down the cigarettes. I'm sure that alone makes you feel tons better!
Hi everyone! I'm a huge Disney fan living in Paris at the moment, training for my first marathon (the fabulous Marathon de Medoc, September 8, 2012). Now that I'm getting closer to the first one, I'm getting all cocky and think I can do another in January. And since I haven't been to Walt Disney World since 1979, and it's the 20th anniversary, and the medal is AWESOME, I think I'm going to bite the bullet (er, the plane ticket) and sign up.
But since all rooms are doubles, thought I'd ask around to see if any other women going to the marathon on their own would like to share with me to help cut down on the cost. Any takers?
Heather
I just started running seriously this year. Disney will be my very first marathon (I'm doing two half marathons in the fall). I can't WAIT for the marathon, but I moreso can't wait to take back all the calories I'm gonna burn running the race with a ridiculous amount of Disney food! Already have my Le Cellier reservation lined up for the day after the race!
I'm blogging about my training here if anyone is interested http://fivehundredandtwelvepointnine.blogspot.com/

that is soooo true about the calories... i have a nike running watch that does the calories (as well as the pace and is a gps) marathons get around 4-5 thousand calories haha... you can eat anything you want after!! lol i will def check out the blog! keep up the great work!
For anyone looking to get into running... and I saw some people looking for a couch to 5k plan... i found an app "c25k" (couch to 5k) and its great! my girlfriend was interested in running with me, she is one of those people who was born lucky and can eat whatever you want and stay 100lbs but she never got into running. It is a great way to get an organized schedule and it starts very gradual. It goes along with any music you might have on your phone. Oh and I forgot to mention one of the best parts... it's FREE! It is sponsored by Breast Cancer awareness, they have 2 options a free one and one for $1.99 they are identical, I am assuming they have the paid one for an option to donate. I guess i'll stop rambling haha. Figured I would share my excitement
