A Disney Newbie

Hi!! I am from Georgia, married for 7 1/2 years, and just had my first baby 4 months ago. I should mention that I am deaf. Big smile

I have gone to Disney since I was a little girl. I stopped for about 15 years until I begged my husband, who never ever went to Disney in his entire life, to take me to Disney in 2006. I remember on the drive down to Disney, he was complaining the entire way how childish Disney was and how he know he will have terrible time, staying for a week at Disney. We checked in Coronado Springs for our first stay. The first step he stepped in Epcot, he changed. He was lured by the Disney magic and his wife (me). On the way back home, he was complaining that HE WANT TO TURN BACK TO Disney. HAHAHA. rolling

We try to go to Disney every year now. We both have stayed at Coronado Springs - 2006, Port Orleans- French Quarter - 2007, Animal Kingdom Lodge - 2008, Caribbean Beach Resort - 2010 (I was 6 1/2 months pregnant), and now Wilderness Lodge - Sept 2011.

We cannot wait to take our baby on her first Disney trip!! YAY!!! clapping yay

Oh- so much to congratulate you on, Lalenalily! First off, welcome! We're so happy to have you here, and we look forward to hearing all you have to tell us about your favorites, your trips, your memories, etc!

Second, congrats on that sweet baby girl, and turning Hubs into a Disney fan! It's so much easier when they cooperate, isn't it? awesome

We have lots of folks with different backgrounds, and there are a few of us with children, so we're happy to hear about your experiences, and share ours. I've done Disney pregnant - isn't that fun! But be sure to check out the Baby Centers in every park - they will make your day so much more pleasant with a little one.

So exciting that you have a trip coming up - and Wilderness Lodge! I would love to stay there sometime. What is your favorite place to eat at WDW? (We also love food here Smile )

Hey Lalenalily and Welcome!

How did you find WDW pregnant. We might be in the kid-hunt in the not too distant future and one of DW's chief complaints is that she won't be able to do WDW. Would you recommend it?

Hi Lalenalily and welcome to the boards! Your hubby sounds like me - we first went in 2001 and I initially thought "Wow, really? Disney? What the heck are 2 adults going to do there??" OOooo, did my life change forever!

We're just up the street from you in Charlotte, and try to go down at lest once a year now that we're close.

We'll also be there in September! YAY!!!!

Congrats on the new baby and your upcoming trip. Both are so exciting. Can't wait to hear about it. The first time we took our daughter she was 6 months old.

Aw, guys... Ya'll are right... this is the friendliest board!! Smile

I love WDW!! They are like different world, you know?

To Brad- I decided to do a relaxing pace at WDW- Not rushing to places to places. I took it very easy. Because of that, It was the best trip out of all. Seriously - I sat a lot, rode rides that I wanted to... Like Test Track at Epcot (I have a funny story about this) and Safari ride at AK even though there is a warning for pregnant women not to ride. I just saw "should not" like it is a suggestion. But, after 3rd or 4th day, I had extremely swollen feet for the first time (YAY ME- I HAD MY FIRST SWOLLEN FEET AT DISNEY) and had to have wheelchair for the rest of the day. It helped a lot because I didn't have swollen feet the rest of the trip as long I sat and rest a lot. The key word is - Relax!! Smile Hope that helps a bit. Oh, and drink a lot of WATER WATER WATER

Jess- how was it? Taking your baby to Disney? We are still debating about taking our baby to Disney or just us two.

Ok, the funny story is... On the day we went to Epcot, I did not feel my baby move AT all- all day. I was worried something was wrong. So, I decided to ride the Test Track around 6ish - the sun was setting and it was not hot as it was. Anyway, I got in and rode it. You know where you go thur the door and you go outside and you feel the speed? Well, on the track and on the first curve, the baby started to kick hard and fast like she loves speed!! She gave me one hard angry kick when I got off. LOL. She is just like her daddy- her dad loves speed! Smile

We go every year so we've taken her twice since she was born. The first time she was 7 months and the second time she was 19 months. She did good both times. The first time she just was kind of there taking everything in..she would sit in her stroller and look at everything but she was very well behaved. This second time because she was older and walking she was able to get into things more. She rode all the rides that she was able to and loved them. She also liked meeting the characters but didn't want to be left alone with them. We always go in november so the lines are to long but we also took are Ipad so she could watch movies on it and be entertained while in line. This time when we go she will be 2 and a half and I think she's going to have a blast just because within the past 6 months she has really gotten into all things Disney like the princesses and mickey so seeing all those things in real life i think will be awesome to her. And flying on the plane both times wasnt bad. Eaiser the first time cause she couldn't walk so she didn't want to get down and move around like she did the second time. Her peditrician said it was ok to give her benadryl to help her sleep on the plane so we gave her that and she slept for the majority of the plane ride. Also make sure you have a bink or bottle handy to let them suck on when you take off and land.

I sold my husband on Disney too, when we moved down here. I insisted on going to Disney and he complained the whole way there, he had never been there and I hadn't been since college. We walked through the gates and he was a changed man, and on the way out that night we bought annual passes!
We still have annual passes 12 yrs later and go at least 2 or 3 times a month, with or without kids (they're older now and we can leave them home alone). He would spend every minute available there, but I have to insist we stay home once in a while to get things done around the house!
Have a great time and enjoy!

You hear that a lot from people who haven't been and become complete converts once they go.

Also welcome Lauren, since I didn't say so already!
