Disney Pins on eBay

I was on eBay looking at Disney Pins and the prices are SO cheap compared to the cost at the parks, and disney store. They have sets of 25 pins for under $30. I was wondering if anyone has bought any from eBay and if this deal is too good to be true.

The one thing you have to look out for on eBay are fakes. The ones that are hard to duplicate are the ones with mulitlayers... or have special things in them. I usually buy a pin I like... even if its fake or not to be honest, and I have bought quite a bit on eBay.

A lot of the bulk sales contain fakes. I'd be very leary of the bulk sellers. I've been burned
On ebay.

If you're just looking to trade them it's a good deal because Disney will take the fakes... If you're trading with cm's that is. I bought a lot a while back and it was mixed between real and fakes.

I've purchased lots of pins from eBay and SOOOO many of them were fake. Yes, technically if you are trading with a CM they will still take them, however... You then have other guests, including kids, that will take that pin off the CM and get stuck with a fake. I don't think it is okay at all to knowingly trade a fake. I have lots of fakes in my personal collection but that is just for me, I have no intention of selling or trading them again.

I have managed to find a very nice couple who sell pins at good prices, usually $2.00 per pin, and they make sure that you do not receive scrappers, in fact I am starting to help them put together a mini campaign called "Say No to Scrappers" for Disneyland.

That is the thing with eBay.. if it looks to good to be true, it probably is..

If you buy bulk, some will be real, majority will be fake. It can be very hard to tell at times though. As others have said, it's good if you're going to Disney to trade with the CMs, but not if you're collecting. And just like WP said, I feel guilty about trading a fake if I know 100% it is fake. It's just not cool.

Phoenix (if you see this) what eBay users that you know are reliable?

As far as I am concerned, if you even think they are fake, you shouldn't trade them, period. Your just as bad as the people that make them if you do.

Oh I know. I'm not going soon and probabbly will never trade them. I put the ones that I can tell are real onto my lanyard. The rest are in a bad in the back of my closet.

Please note that a CM will not trade with you IF he/she knows that it is a fake. Of course, most CM (and most of us) cant tell very well if it is a scrapper. So technically, it is NOT ok to trade scrapers with a CM.

Actually by Disney standards we have to. Mostly because if someone is new to pin trading they won't know the difference between real and fake. We ten take the fake ones and go to our pin center and trade them out for new ones. It's crappy how many fakes there are, but some people just don't realize they have them.

Actually, I've been refused a trade with a CM (who didn't know any better) even with a legitimate Disney pin. It was the USPS Disney postage stamp pin. The CM told me it isn't Disney pin even though it has a copyright Disney symbol on the back. I had a confirmation from Steven Miller (while he was still "running" the pins and vinylmation stuff) that such pins are legit Disney pins.

So yes, I've seen CMs not trading pins for one reason or another, and I have seen CMs not trading if a pin was suspect. However, spotting a scrapper is not easy, even for us pin traders. So I can see why almost all CMs will simply trade away just to please the guests.

Ryry991 , I understand what your saying, and I understand why Disney would tell you too. I just think it is wrong for anyone one to trade the scrapper's to anyone, CM or not, if they know what they are.

If you have scrappers use them to decorate pin boards.
