Well also the difference between your gaming system at home and your gaming system at the arcade is becoming less and less. In the 80's going to an arcade was a big deal, because there was no way to get the same quality games at home. Now the game has to be something REALLY complicated or specialized or else you've probably got something just as fun on your Wii.

I think that's exactly it. Plus I suspect there's more money in selling a $40 game to a kid than getting him to pay to play it a few times. I think really only the games that have specialized equipment or require a physical or group element are going to thrive.

My feelings on DQ are mixed. I've only been once, several years ago. I was sorely disappointed at the age and state of some of the attractions. Some of the "virtual reality" rides are almost as old as I am...seriously. The Alladin one for example is from an age where VR was very new. It is extremely primitive, hard to control, aweful looking, and not terribly fun to me. Pirates of the Carribean on the other hand is awesome. That alone is almost worth the price of admission. You and your party (along with others) get into a small ship with cannons and a helm (steering wheel). You go to battle with other real people in other ships to get the booty. There are a couple other VR attractions that are fun. The Buzz Lightyear attraction is cool. It's like bumper cars with balls you have to pick up with the front of your vehicle to shoot at other cars. The Mighty Ducks Pinball is really fun. You control the game with your whole body and play against other people. Far as the regular video games, I was disappointed with the selection and the state of disrepair of some of the games. Most that I played did work though. They had some good games that are $.50 to $2 to play in arcades, so it was cool to play them over and over again. Though I did enjoy my one visit there, I don't think I'll go back unless or until they make some improvements.

I've never really had any desire to go here, but oddly LifL's tepid endorsement made me want to go. Were the lines for the PotC game never ending?

Was one of the longer waits there, but as I recall shorter than Buzz Lightyear. Don't think it was more than fifteen minutes, twenty tops. Well worth it, whatever it was. Also, the wait for Cyber Space Mountain was almost none when I was there. You build your coaster while waiting, so that wasn't bad at all for me.

Cyber Space Mountain is fun, but don't make the same mistake I did the first time. I designed the track with all the 'extreme' track pieces and nothing but. All the wildest stuff and nothing else. Well, that's not what makes a good coaster. You need those peaks and valleys, the calm and the crescendo, y'know.

I bet that's something a LOT of people do It's like being a kid in a candy store! But it's a great opportunity to learn how to create (and appreciate) what goes into a good coaster...and what doesn't!

All those games sound really cool. I'm sorely tempted to check this out next time. Maybe the next time I go at a really low attendance time. I hate lines for video games.

Though there are certainly some negatives, overall I had a great time there. Mind you, I'm a big time gamer, but I found lots to do there I enjoyed.

I went to DQ for the first time this past trip. I'll save the details for my ongoing TR but I'll say we were there for 6 hours in the middle of the afternoon...dodging the beastly heat. It was lots of fun and believe it or not I actually rode Cyber Space Mountain (I am NOT a roller coaster fan!). I especially like the "free" pinball machines...I LOVE pinball!

We had purchased the Fun and More add on to our tickets...which for $50 (I think) gave us 10 waterpark/DQ tix which also are no expiration. So for our next trip we have 7 days of PH tix and 8 days of Waterpark/DQ. Well worth the $$, IMO.

They should make a DisneyQuest game where they give you a taser to run around and taze the ill-behaved kids.

I went a few years back on day when it was really raining hard, since I had a water parks and fun add on. Needless to say it was busy. I had fun, but I can't say I would go back with all the other stuff there is to do. BUT it did have an animation academy. I sat and drew for a few hours straight
