Disney Wedding Alternatives

Space Ace made a great point in the Harry P. Leu Gardens, that some people might love Disney World enough to want to Honeymoon there or have all their friends/family stay there while they get married, but not actually want to be married there. Space Ace suggested the Gardens might be a good location for that, anyone else have any good suggestions?

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but if someone is Catholic, there is a very well known Shrine in Orlando which would make a very serene and holy place for a wedding.

It's called The National Shrine of Mary Queen of the Universe. I know friends who've gone there for Sunday Mass from their Disney vacations since Disney stopped offering Catholic Mass.

I've never priced a Disney wedding, but understand it to be quite expensive. My wife's best friend's daughter got married at Caesar's Palace a few years ago and for only 20 people to attend, it was a small fortune. (Got to admit though, it was a beautiful one!)

I think if I was doing a Disney re-wedding, I'd do it by getting a suite at the Polynesian overlooking the lagoon, have all my friends and family I want there, and bring my own Justice of the Peace or whatever. (Shoot, you are already married so you could have the bellhop do it for that matter.)

I know this is a bit outrageous to traditionalists, but it might be fun. AND more affordable.

My Next wedding will be on the Grand One in the 7 seas lagoon, timed so that "kiss the bride" will correspond with the start of the MK fireworks show.

That's going to require a very precise minister.

I remember a travel channel episode a while back about Disney Weddings, and they said something about the average being $10,000 eek

Poly scenario sounds lovely, by the way.

1. the luxury yacht at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

2. She's a keeper, it would be a second ceremony (Unless bigamy is in my future)

Does the Grand One sail very often? Would I have seen it?

It sales every time someone coughs up the cash. I have never seen it out on the bay, and I think I would recognize a luxury yacht on a Disney lake.

I don't think I've ever seen it, but I've read that it's only like $350 an hour, which is a lot, but not that much more than a lot of other cruises out there. Be sure to talk really fast in your second wedding ceremony so you don't go over the hour.

Hmm..Wishes and Illuminations cruises can run you $300, can't they? Those are only an hour.

The Grand One sounds like fun--a bit splashy perhaps, but fun. Wink
