It's always been assumed that this is coming. I'm not so sure how the heavily local based Guests at Disneyland are going to respond to the FastPass+ though. It will be interesting to read the reactions. Honestly I'm surprised that they didn't move directly to DCL next with the MagicBands.

I just heard on the DIS podcast that magic bands are on hold indefinitely at DL, most likely in response to outcry from the local base. Being a MagicBand fan, I would love to see this technology at DL, but after experiencing the park and how low key it is, I can appreciate why DL locals will be happy that Magic Bands are dead at DL for now.

Did you hear that before or after May 21st?

Traci used the source below in our news piece today about the continued roll out of MagicBands

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/22/us-walt-disney-parks-idUSKBN0O705S20150522

and WDWNT is a picky about their sources as we are, so I take this article pretty seriously

I heard it on the podcast that aired on 5/26. I'm not sure if that one was a live or recorded broadcast. There's been a bit of both lately.

I have an article from the LA Times saying Disneyland for now is not planning to add the Magicbands.

That's what I read too. There is another one quoting a Disney Executive also that there would be no Magicbands in DL. That was on FB I think. I'm not sure how old that article was either.

Okay, I saw this

Which was quoting the LA Times article.

Maybe the research shows that the LA market is already saturated with smart phones, that the bands aren't needed.

Maybe they're still doing FP+ and getting the RFID card readers, but only using the cards with the RFID tech instead of the bands? I imagine that handing each guest a card w an RDIF chip in it is cheaper than handing them a magic band. If that's the case, I wonder if you could link a DL ticket to your MDE account and then use and existing MB from WDW when you visit DL??

Great questions - as with all things DIsney though we'll just have to wait and see what comes about!
