Disneyland Annual Pass

I am in the process of planning a trip to DL for 09/29/13 - 10/06/13. I am contemplating getting Deluxe annual passes instead of the 5 day park hopper. We would be arriving Sunday morning and leaving the following Sunday evening. The AP works out to almost the same price per day over 8 days, and then we would have to go again this year, right. laugh

Wondering if anyone knows about the discounts at the Disneyland Hotel for pass holders?
The website won't give the discounted rates unless you are already a pass holder.

Do you think the discounts would make it worth while? we will be eating most meals in the parks, a few table service mostly counter service and lots of snacks. We will also be doing ALL of our xmas shopping. DS is 3.5 now, and is NOT going on this trip.

thanks

Courtney

I am pretty sure that you get all those great shopping discounts. My Aunt has a limited AP for DL or the select or something on the lower end. I know she has a list of black out dates. And, I am pretty sure that she gets the shopping discount.

I also know that my DVC card gave me discounts for dining and shopping there. Possibly the AP has the same discounts that DVC has?

I am hoping to find out what the discounts at the hotels are. Trying to decide whether to splurge on DLH. i think i have decided the the AP is worth it, just means we will have to go again before the year is up... mickey

We like road trips, I would drive it.

Well, ok, we are about 9 or 10 hours from WDW. Park time is essential. We figure, from where we live, it would take 6 or 7 hours if we were to fly, including getting to the Atlanta airport in time to make it to the gate. I have not accounted for any flight delays, which are common with our weather.

In the end, for 2 or 3 hours more, it's worth it to us to save money and have our own vehicle at WDW. Even though we are huge fans of Disney Transportation.

Personally, I don't think the DL hotels are worth it. I'm sure they're nice since they're Disney & the equivalent price wise to the deluxe resorts of DW but DL is A LOT smaller than DW, located in the middle of Annaheim & it's very easy to get on & off property by foot. Plus many of the resorts in the area have teamed up together to create Annaheim Resort Transit which has many routes all of which service DL & they offer 1, 3 & 5 day passes.

We have done both. we are only considering DLH as its our anniversary and we stayed there on our Disneymoon. and it would probably only bee a night or 2 with the rest outside the park.

If I remember correctly, AP discount was 15-20% or so, unless it was really a peak time. Can't say for sure though, we never actually stayed in one. DH wants to stay in the Grand Californian so badly, but yikes it's expensive!

Discount in the park is 10 or 20% on food and merch, unless they've changed it recently. We had APs for the past several years, until this one. (stupid being a grown up and buying a house changes that!)

During off seasons, I think we got some hotel offers for as much as 30% off.

Thanks Southlake, I think we are going to have to go budget this time. Probably the holiday inn express. now that we are getting the APs we are planning at least one more trip this year, possibly 2. I wish we lived closer...
