Do Special Seasonal Events Make You Want to Come Down?

We're headed to the Food And Wine Fest for the last time for a few hours this week to try the things we haven't gotten to yet. I was wondering...the F&W, the Flower and Garden Fest at Epcot, the seasonal decorations, the Christmas Candlelight Processional...do any of these "special occasions" draw you to WDW? Or are they just nice "plusses" if you happen to be here?

We usually go to WDW during the winter months (Jan. Feb. or Mar.) to get away from these NH winters. The last few times we have "altered" our routine and gone at other times of the year, namely Dec. and Oct. just to be able to see these special events such as MNSSHP, MVMCP, Candlelight Procesional and F&W festival.

We definitely seek out F&W. MNSSHP & MVMCP are also big draws for us.

It's not the chief reason..but if I was planning a trip during the fall I'd make sure it was during f&W. Other than F&W no other special event would really influence my travel plans.

Lately yes, we have been planning around the special events to try an see them. We never really watched the parades that much because we used that time to do the rides when they were not that crowded. But now we plan to try to see all the different holiday decorations and parades. Maybe next year we'll do X-mas!

I have to tell ya - I LOVE F&W and Flower and Garden Fest is neat too (though HOT!!) as well as the holidays in all of the parks, but a couple of years ago, I finally saw the Epcot Candlelight Processional and reading of the Christmas story. WOW. It was amazing and very moving for me personally. The special Christmas characters were also out in World Showcase, telling their traditional stories, and that was icing on the cake. If you love Christmas, this one might be worth your time.

I would answer this question with three words:

Yes, Yes and Yes

I miss the days when F&W was a lesser-known thing and wans't as much of a draw, but it's still totally worth going. The Halloween & Christmas Parties are some of the my favorite things around.

Absolutely! There's nothing like the holiday season in WDW. I'm so jealous of the locals, because they get to experience it throughout the season!

I have always heard such great things about the Candlelight Processional. Unfortunately for me I'm a teacher so the only time I could go in December is the busiest time of year. Those of you that have been do you think that balances out the negative of going when it's busy?

I'm going to say....yes. But I think it would be worth doing it up right and doing the dinner package with the processional if you know you're going on a particularly busy nite. I assume they're doing it again this year. Shame on me...I haven't even looked! As for me, I usually just pick a week nite early-ish in the season, take my chances, and go.

I'm sure I'll find time in the next few days to get over to the site, pick the days I'd really like to go and figure out the details. When I do, I promise to report back.

I think I'd definitely go with a dinner package at that time of year.

What restaurants can you choose with the dinner package?

Is it preferred seating like Fantasmic?

Yes I'm going on Monday but will be staying offsite til the following Sunday.
I'll probably only do two park days. Epcot and the Studios.
Also planning on seeing ICE at Gaylord Palms, Holyland Experience,
Osceola Heritage park lights and downtown Celebration's Celebration.

Got a full agenda planned. I hope I can keep up with it. yay
