Do they make value resorts intentionally work unfriendly?

As I am sitting here writing this post from a minuscule table in the Pop Century resort I'm prompted to wonder:

Is there some reason they couldn't put a usable sized desk in here? Or even a table big enough to use comfortably. I know I'm not in the Ritz or anything, but I'd like to be able to get some stuff done. In the Deluxes (except for AKL and WL) they have great setups. I wonder if they reserve those for those paying the most on purpose or if they just do it because of room size. To me it looks like there's enough room in here though.

I often wonder why in the one bedroom villa they put the computer hook up and desk in the bedroom. I am starting to think that they (Disney) think we should not work at all while there.

I'd go along with that. The last thing I want to do when on holiday is work.

I don't WORK work a lot at WDW, but I do like to handle up on my photographs each day and the tiny workspaces are no good for us either. We both have cameras and we both have computers, so we both need space to make the magic happen.

And to add to that, why can't they put wireless internet in for free. you get it when you stay at any other hotel for free. I still have not been able to get a wireless router to work at the resort. You can't tell me that with the price of the rooms, they would loose money!. Guess it's just they wouldn't make the extra money buy charging $10 per day to the non-DVC members. This is maybe the one thing that really irks me!

I'm always curious how many people don't get on the Internet at least once a day. Maybe it's more than I expect.

It's interesting, the more expensive the hotel, the more likely they are to charge you for Internet. I never understand that.

lol..maybe they think that if you can only afford to stay at a Value then you're too poor to have a laptop!

J/k, j/k,j/k..because I totally go value ALL the time I can say that right?

I would guess it would be a size issue..because dont most hotels have a desk and a table? It might be a little crowded with both..so if they had to pick one they picked the table because it's more family friendly?

The table has multiple purposes I suppose.

Our first room at Beach Club was not very work-friendly either, although better than POP. We're in a room with a sitting area now that works much better.

I never understood why they put the desk in the bedroom. pillowfight

I don't want to have to sit in the bedroom to use the wired internet. gaah

It doesn't make sense but then again there are a few things Disney does that only make sense to them, like not having online booking in DVC and having to get paper confirmations instead of email. Hopefully that will all change real soon.

The one bedroom DVC rooms have the internet in the bedroom?!?

I've only stayed in one 1 bedroom so far and it was in Kidani and yes it had the internet in the bedroom only. Annoying but at least they had a desk that you could sit at.

I like to do my trip reports live but being in the bedroom detracts from hanging out with everyone in the living room.

I know some people who bring wireless routers with them but I'm not tech savvy enough to figure it out yet.

When, oh when, will Disney go wireless? gaah

I thought that the one bedrooms all had the Internet connection in the bedrooms. However, at the Boardwalk the connection was at the kitchen table. Looks like they are getting better at this. Now, they just need to go wireless.

Amen to that brother.

I was happy to see that Vero Beach is now wireless last time I stayed there.
Disney IT is soooooooo slow to upgrade things and I'm sure that includes the wireless but if enough people put it on the comment cards then eventually they should do something about it.

Yikes; it always works for us. Maybe we'll have to do some more research! I think it's absolutely ludicrous that Disney doesn't have wifi in the rooms. Especially considering how many convention guests and conferences they have! If I were at a Disney resort on business and had to plug in the computer, I'd be seriously dismayed.
