Do you Black Friday shop???

I have three favorite holidays..Christmas, Thanksgiving & Black Friday. I just love the deals..it sends me into a price slashing coma. I have to admit..I don't do much gift buying on Black Friday but I will be doing a lot of Bella buying.....
We aren't fanatics though..we usually just hit the Target sometime during the day..and we may go to Old Navy if we feel like it. Last week the boy was about four weeks old & we went out to Kohl's, Best Buy & Target.

Ha! We do the same - more stuff for us if we need it. But we don't do the early morning thing - we venture out mid to late morning and hit places like Super Target, Kohls and maybe the mall to check out the crazies and the decorations.

I covet your Super Target. I didn't know Charlotte had one! I need to go there..and to Ikea.

HA! I was going to post the same question! I am not so much a BF shopper, although Hubs did get up at some ungodly hour a couple of years ago to score an amazing deal on a washer and dryer (hey, ya gotta do, what ya gotta do Smile ) I hate crowds and pushy people, so I try to avoid retail whenever possible on this day...although we're usually here in ATL for the weekend following, and pretty much every weekend day in the ATL is crazy too, throughout the holiday season...

I saw something neat on the Today show this morning...AM EX (and others I assume) are also sponsoring Small Business Saturday. They suggest, go big on Friday, but then shop local small businesses on Saturday, and then of course Cyber Monday. I think that's a great idea! I love shopping independent stores, and there's no reason why you can't have the best of both worlds - a little big box, a little Mom and Pop.

We're going to try and do it...anyone else going to shop small business on Saturday?

I just read about small business Saturday yesterday! I have a love of Target ( i went there twice today eek ) but other than that I usually try and shop small business. I love vintage stores and cute little kids consignment shops are the way to go in my opinion!

Oh..I forgot..I also love Old Navy & Ikea..but oh well.

I try to go near as few shops as possible between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but particularly stay away from them on Black Friday.

I have found that the smaller the place that you live the better the experience. My parents live in a smallish town just outside of Augusta Ga..we went to the mall & Target yesterday and we had such a pleasant time. Today we went to the Augusta Mall..and oh my stars..people were parked vertically on the hill.

I love to shop Black Friday! I went around 8:30 and got home around 4. Usually I leave the house a bit earlier (around 7) but my mother wanted to go out for a while with me so I had to wait for her. Since the stores have started opening so early, it is really not that bad by the time I go. I can only think of 1 small store around here. We do have two shopping villages fairly close that are filled with those kinds of stores but since they are know as shopping villages they would have been as packed as the malls.

My mom and I go every year! We leave at about 3 and are home by 10. It's sort of our yearly tradition!

For years we scoured the circulars to find one item we wanted, then went out at 5am to get it on Black Friday! As soon as it was safely in our car, we went back home and back to bed! Haven't been out shopping for a couple of years now, but I'm definitely doing the online shopping on Black Friday!

Ha! - just a spot! I'm getting better about my crowd aversion. I went to Michael's to get the supplies for a craft project I'm doing. Oh, and an early morning Starbucks run! Neither was painful. I actually found myself wanting to do MORE shopping - but I don't have any lists made yet, and I hate shopping without a list. Maybe next year, or maybe I'll even brave the after Christmas sales! Oh check that. Will be in the land of crazy AKA ATL. No way Smile

I went out today for the first time in years! I usually avoid Black Friday, but my husband needed some new suits and Men's Wearhouse had a fantastic sale. Were out around 10am and it really wasn't too bad. The grocery store was downright dead. Not a bad trip!

Haha I had a totally freak out moment when I got here and saw this thread..I thought someone hacked my account or something but this was from LAST year Bella..duh.

Anyway, I didn't make it out this year! Dave worked today and the shopping area that is near our house is CRAZY this time of year so I avoid it at all costs. Last year we were at my parents house in a small town so that was nice. Columbia? Not so much.

Hi,

I didn't do the Black Friday thing either. I think because it's just me. Because I never get Black Friday off (and I didn't this year because I had it in my alternate vacation dates, and I got my first choices), I worked my ten-hour shift and then went out to a diner for dinner. The diner had a twelve-ounce prime rib special for $11.99 USD which included two side items (I had a baked potato and applesauce), and the unsweetened iced tea with lemon (and two free refills) was another $1.59. Tax and 20% tip brought the meal to $17.53, which I charged.

What Jeff and JoAnn said...HELL NO!

We went to an awesome sand sculpture competition at the beach. People from all over the world came to compete, it was incredible and being at the beach beats shopping any day! plus we spent less $.

alright, confession, we did stop by Bed Bath and Beyond while the rest of the family was golfing before we went to the beach.

My parents are taking the WHOLE family on a cruise that leaves Jan. 1st, so we are not exchanging Christmas gifts. It will be interesting because my mom is the queen of shopping, especially at Christmas. I don't think she can do it, but we'll see.

We live in Canada so we don't have black Friday here, how ever I do know a lot of people who cross the boarder and brave the crowd. Myself I have no desire to do so. I have a hard enough time going to the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon when it is crowded. Funny thing is I can handle crowds at Disney but put me in a grocery store and I go nuts!! yuck

Ha - interesting. Since there's no "official" start to the holiday shopping season, when do the crowds get thick in Canada?

Honestly, I wish we didn't have it here. While I appreciate good deals, I hate that they've taken over as the focal point of Christmas.
