Do you use EMH?

Do you use Extra Magic Hours? Why or why not?

No. From everything I've read, the parks with EMH are very, very crowded, so I try to avoid them. I know that morning EMH's are widely touted as being an efficient way to get a lot done in the 1st hour of the day, but I have a hard enough time getting up and to the parks for the regular opening time. I'd never make it to morning EMH.

I usually do morning EMHs, but SF, you're right. I will definitely say that getting up for morning EMHs can put a dent in the amount of sleep we get--especially because we're usually getting to bed really late... I usually need a day to sleep in somewhere.

Evening EMHs can be a bit of a disappointment, but we still check them out. Mornings, EMH or not are by far the best time to get rides in. We typically get more done in the first 90 minutes than you can get done in the next few hours.

We usually hit about 75% of EMHs while we're there--morning and evening. We like wandering around Epcot at night (even if we don't ride anything), and think that morning EMH is the best time to ride Magic Kingdom rides.

We treat evening EMHs like the hard ticket event parties--there will be lots of people, so we just go for the atmosphere and any rides are "gravy."

@SoloFriendly,

I have to concur with dsoup here. If you're worried about getting everything in, I strongly recommend doing the mornings at the parks. EMH and just getting to the park at opening is good. (Don't bother with parks that have morning EMH if you don't get there for the EMH time.)

My experience is that for the mornings, the EMH is busier AFTER EMH than a normal park, but much less busy during the EMH. So you can go and get in quite a bit of riding before the park "opens." As I said if you're worried about getting everything in, this could be some of the most efficient time available.

Oh, I'm definitely planning on being at the parks every day at 9am, Brad. I just don't think I could get up any earlier. I also have a couple of days where I get to sleep in, so thank God for that. And I have a feeling that once I start getting tired every day, a lot of things may fall off my list of priorities. Funny how that works. laugh

I was reminded today that it doesn't take much to make me happy. It was sunny and 85 in Burlington (a record!). I went for a walk, a bike ride along the lake, and took pictures of the neighbor's cat outside. And of course, I didn't have to go to work!!! It was a great day. The biggest thing I really am looking forward to during this trip is the weather. If the days are sunny and warm, I could be happy just sitting around outside enjoying an adult beverage. awesome

It's a really good idea to not make a "mission" of getting everything done. If you miss some stuff, so be it. The goal is to have a good time!

Isn't that funny??! laugh As long as you don't let yourself feel guilty for not getting everything in sarcastic Why do people do that sometimes confused

I loved reading about your beautiful day! Burlington is such a great city. I've really enjoyed the time I've spent there.

Wait--you've been to Burlington? Did you tell me that before and I just spaced on it? Yeah, it was really beautiful yesterday, especially along the lake. I brought my camera to take pictures, but it just wasn't feasible to stop too much, there were too many people on the bike path. It was like rush hour traffic--bicyclists, skateboarders, rollerbladers, pedestrians, dogs. Almost ended up in a 3-person pileup at one point.

I didn't vote, but only because we use a mixture of both. We do one or two morning EMH's and a couple evening EMH's.

We actually found the evening EMH at DAK was amazing! We had two extra FP's each for Everest and they allowed us to use them during EMH. We were able to ride at sunset, which was unbelievable! Since the park closes at five, we never would have been able to experience that or seeing the park at night on a normal day...totally worth it.

Morning is usually better at most parks...mostly because most people are too lazy to wake up early! silly

Yeah, you can just look at the responses in the threads and know why your best chance of getting on rides is in the AM. No one wants to get up early on vacation!

I have! I used to work at a resort/conference center on Lake George with a friend from Burlington, so I spent a couple of weekends there!

I adore the evening EMHs. It's hard for me because I'm such an early riser, but it is really, really cool to be in MK in the middle of the night!

That's true--it's fun to be there at, like, 2:00am! The trick is to outlast everyone else!!!

Cool! Yeah, Lake George is a reasonable drive from here. That's a pretty area, too--and jammin' with tourists in the summer.

I voted for sleeping in! We do EMHs on several mornings, but there's no way I could do that every day!!

I agree with this. Yes, the early part of the EMH usually is still packed, but if you can wait it out, you can get a LOT done after midnight (and IT IS AWESOME being in the parks that late!!!)

No kidding! I love that you can just walk on anything you want. Plus, BTMRR is the best at night!

The only drag about nighttime EMH is that you have a hard end. In the morning lines may start getting longer, but you still have the whole day ahead of you. At night, there going to kick you out in not too long.
