I would say about 1 trip in 5 we leave property for any significant amount of time. We rarely even both to eat off property. How about you guys? How often do you leave the Happiest Place on Earth?

We have not left Disney property in 7 years. We use to always do a day in Universal but to us it just does not hold the Magic of Disney.
It's a long journey from the UK, so we try to pack in as much as possible, Universal, Seaworld, the lot, so we probably spend as much time off property as on it depending on where we are staying.
I can only please one person per day. Today isn't your day... tomorrow doesn't look good either.
This wil be the first time since '98 that I'm spending a few days offsite. I'm going to IOA for the HP experience for two days before going to Disney but I usually never eat or play offsite!

I bet HP is luring a lot of people into Unversal for the first time.
Tony, I could tell from your pictures and knowledge that you have definitely spent more time at the other parks than most of us. Do you have some trips that are more Disney-centric than others?
Ive been off WDW property once...bad bad idea.
Now DL..I could spend 6 months in So Cal and do something different everyday!

You know I've always had a pretty strong anti-So Cal bias. I love Northern California. I suspect I'd like Disneyland but I'm not sure I'd leave the bubble.
So why are you anti So Cal?
I've spent some time in San Diego and Orange County and I'm probably overstating by calling myself "anti So Cal," but I think I'm just much more of a Northern California type.
Thats what I love about the state of Cali..the whole state...you can be ANYWHERE and see ANYTHING you want within a day drive! mountains, beaches, desert...anything!

We might end up doing a Disneyland trip sometime soon -- any suggestions for quick day trips?
Also, regarding Orlando, we get to the World so rarely that we usually have so much we want to do on Disney property we don't have time to leave. I don't think it's a "we wouldn't ever do it" thing, we just have too much we want to see in Disney.
Although the pics of the other parks that have been posted in this forum make me want to venture! (Thanks tony and vette!)
Depends on what you want to do and what youre in to. Theres the beach, all of Hollywood, Museums, farmers markets, the list goes on and on

I can't think of much I'd buy at a farmer's market that I'd fly home with, but I can think of lots of things I might eat in my hotel room.
I have such an aversion to leaving property that when we're at the World our friends in Orlando have to come and see us at our resort :-}} We left property once...had to drive to Palm Beach...bad idea! Now, once we're on property, we stay there!!

Seriously! If you have room for them to come visit you at the World why does it make sense for you to go visit them. They'd have to have a pretty nice house to compare with WDW.

That is for sure....last time they visited us, we spent the day at the POR pool. We got to be there for their little one's first swim in a pool! He was a little unsure at first, until he saw all the fun the other kids were having!
Always good to have positive peer influence!

We left once..The Dave forgot his shoes.
I still cannot for the life of my figure out how he drove all the way to Florida in his house slippers and had NO idea that he forgot his shoes.
Men.
Where were YOU during all this? Did you let him drive all the way to FL in his slippers just to have a chuckle?
You know us men are liable to forget anything that isn't strapped on...
I usually take off my shoes when I'm driving long distance. Does anyone else do this?
